Stark tech in the shield would be great, this nonsense about Cap not fitting into moden tech blah blah, is just that, nonsense. That is not, was not and won't be the basis of Cap A. Think about todays modern life, EVERYTHING is tech, you can't walk thru 7-11 without tripping over 3 Ipods and 15 cell phones, of course the shield will be some sort of tech. And yes, it is/would be very cool.

The one on the table is actually a joke. If you really do some research about the design team and makers of the film one of the cgi guys working on that scene added that as a goof and the director and stan lee loved it so much they kept it because of the future film they are doing with the avengers. Just like in the incredible hulk movie there are many things pointing towards that movie. like the super soldier serum and and the lightning and storm which is a huge referance to thor and of course the end when tony stark talks to the general about the avengers team.

Again through retroactive continuity, it is established that the shield was presented to Rogers by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.[1] The shield is created by a fictional American metallurgist named Dr. Myron MacLain, who had been commissioned by the US government to create an indestructible armor material to aid the war effort. MacLain experiments with vibranium, an alien metal found only in Wakanda that has unique vibration absorption properties.
The vibranium-iron alloy mix is then poured into a mold for a tank's upper hatch to create the disc shape and painted to become Captain America's symbol.

Dr. Maclain did this independently and never worked for Stark Industries. He did later work for s.h.i.e.l.d. Tony Stark never developed Cap's Shield, So all this would be is another gross screw up of yet another comic book storyline.

I'm not saying that there shouldn't been tie ins in movies what I am saying is, Captain America first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941). Ironman first appeared in Tales of Suspense #39 (March 1963),the same year The Avengers Team was put together in The Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963). Cap came first, Tony did not make the sheild (He did however upgrade it before Cap was unthawed) The guy that wrote the article didn't know that and if they don't do Captain America next and do some type of a tie in at that point to Ironman, it will screw everything up. Captain America movie should have come first.

PEOPLE NEED TO READ THE ORIGINAL COMIC BOOKS INSTEAD OF QUOTING FROM THE NEWER ONES OR THE NEWER MOVIES WHICH ARE SCREWED UP.

|Who’s to say cap wasnt one of tony’s childhood heroes?|

He was Tony's Hero, watch Avengers Two. It's animated, you can rent it in your local video store.

In the current avengers timeline-which includes the Ultimates and the most recent animated movies- Steve Rogers didn't HAVE the sheild in 1945. (also, if he did in some timelines, and it was just an adamantium/iron-vibranium alloy sheild, then it was JUST a sheild.) There is no reason Tony Stark can't be playing around with sheild technology, either for his past weapons division tech (soldiers DO get shot at, so a high tech sheild could be VERY useful to them) or for a possible integration into his suit.

It seems likely that we should look for a high tech sheild to be present in the new Captain America movie.

Captain America hasn't been brought out of stasis yet. In the comics he didn't show up until the team was mostly put togther. They were happy because Bruce Banner hadn't made any progress replicating it.

BTW. He IS working with Super Soldier serum in the new movie.

And boys...They already confirmed that it's Cap's sheild...what are you even arguing about?

I would say that it is the shield, true it could be a blurred diagram if it werent for the red and white rings that can be scene around it in the still shot. I have no problem beleiving that Stark, being who he is and knowing his habits in how he buys things on a whim, would buy the shield for his private collection, perhaps for study or maybe just to have. Who's to say cap wasnt one of tony's childhood heroes?

I believe captain Americas shield was originally created by Dr. Myron MacLain during WWII when he created the compound vibranium by accident. This was the antecedent to adamantium in fact. Some say it was the original vibranium that the shield was made of but its a hazy line between that and calling it secondary adamantium.

What I don't get, is that if the Iron Man movie is taking place in modern times (ie right now) how could his dad have worked on the Manhattan Project and other World War II stuff? It'd make more sense if it was his GRANDfather...but his dad wouldn't be old enough. Unless he worked on the Manhattan Project when he was like 5. Conceivably his dad could be in his 80's, or 90's (if he were still alive), and had Tony at a late age, but judging from the pic of them together shown during the faux documentary at the awards ceremony, his father is the usual sort of age difference between a father and son...ie his dad looked twenty-five or so years older.
