Review of “The Fall”

This Weekend, I had the enjoyable experience of seeing the movie, “The Fall”. It was directed by Tarsem Singh, who directed, “The Cell”. This movie stars Lee Pace, who is becoming one of my favorite actors. He also stars in the TV show, “Pushing Daisies”.
This is a very charming movie about a friendship between an injured Hollywood stuntman, and a little girl who is in the same hospital with an injured arm. The main plot of the story is the little girl imagining a tale told by the stuntman. The friendship is formed out of necessity; her looking for a friend, and him looking for someone to help him in his ultimate demise. She visits him daily in hopes to hear more of the story, which he tells her in exchange for her to get him more medication. Their friendship is superficial to him until he realizes that he is not alone and the little girl truly does care for him.
The movie is visually in a class of its own, and the story is equally as impressive. The characters and the background never take away from the intensity and the meaning of what the writer is trying to portray. The casting was phenomenal, in that they didn’t use any big names. Lee Pace and Cantinca Untaru (the little girl), pull together one of the best performances I’ve seen between two characters. I actually felt like, as an audience, we were watching actual events unfold between friends.
As he told her the story, we were thrust into her imagination, which the director captured perfectly. He stayed true to what was real in her world by making the characters in the story people she had daily interaction with.
As a movie connaisseur, this was a breath of fresh air. I have been thinking about this film and I have found that it has made a lasting impression. There is so much I would like to say but I do not want this to be a spoiler review. I strongly encourage anyone reading this review to experience this film for themselves. You will not be disappointed.

LOVED this movie. First truly original film I have seen in a while. HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. The visuals were amazing. The story was fantastic. The acting… phenomenal. Especially from Catinca Untaru who was only 9 during the filming.
At last! Someone else ‘gets’ this film!
I’ve read numerous piffle where Tarsem’s The Fall is described as little if nothing above pretentious. NOT. SO. This is a beautiful work, both visually AND emotionally. The tender friendship developed between the physically/emotionally wrecked stuntman, Roy Walker (subtley played by Lee Pace) and the young Alexandria (Cantinca Untaru – a true gem), is brilliant.

This film was OUTSTANDING. The tender friendship between the man and the girl touched my heart, and although this is just a story I started to cry when the man had a “emotional breakdown” between the story and real life. Realizing how much the girl cared for him gave the story a twist in the end.
AMAZING FILM!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
This movie was really amazing. I recently watched it on Blu ray and thought the film was just amazing.
