Oh man! Are you kidding me?! Why do people think this is a good idea? There does not need to be a part 2! I really don’t want this to be true, but it is and it starts shootong on May 18th. So you wanna hear what its about?
The story picks up seven years after the first film (and Donnie’s death) when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions.
Of course! A road trip! that will give the movie the edge is needs. Oh and guess who isn’t involved Richard Kelly the man behind the original Darko. He is a smart man for not wanting to have anything to do with this. Look what the producers of the movie have to say, this is great!
Simon Crowe of Velvet Octopus added: “I think there is a new generation of cinema-goers who will be very excited to see this film.”
Crowe quipped to ScreenDaily: “Donnie’s not in [the new film] but there are meteorites and rabbits.”
Meteorites and rabbits!? Who are these People!? Did they not understand the first movie? There’s no rabbits! From what it sounds like the movie is about 2 girls on a road trip that start having visions of meteorites that are filled with rabbits. And when the metorites hit, the rabbits come out and start to terrorize them. Does that sound about right?

Don’t get me wrong; y’know, I like rabbits and all. I just don’t see the point in crying over a dead rabbit! Y’know, who… who never even feared death to begin with.

I really am annoyed at this. Why can’t they leave well enough alone!? The sad thing is people will see it! People that don’t know any better. I hope it goes strait to DVD if that.
I hope the plot of the movie will be that Donnie got sucked into a meteor shower right before he died and has now formed an army of bunny men to take over Los Angeles. The only person that can stop him is his little sister. People will love it!
No sources, no info on IMDB for anything. Smells like a BS rumour with a bad photoshop job (blur filter, much?) for a hit grabbing tactic.

In response to “Smells like BS” i wish it were a BS rumor. But it was posted on Screen Daily and you can even find a poster for it at Movies Online. If we find out otherwise we will let you know.
By-The-Way I would not rely on IMDB completely. There are movies and projects that I personally know that are being made or developed that are not on IMDB.
The image I created was as a “What if” gag, after reading the story posted on Screen Daily (source) taking inspiration from their quote “there are meteorites and rabbits.” So in 15 minutes I created a mock movie image. I will admit that the blur is over used I could only find one good photo of “Frank” (The Rabbit). But hey I only had 15 minutes

I think its just a rumor it cant happen no one cares about the family years later after Donnies death. And Samantha having visions of the bunny sounds like a fourth Final destination. The classic one was brilliant nothing can beat it and the sequel would just kill it.

Best idea ever… not only does it get rid of the most confusing characters, it keeps with the complete and utter illogic of the first film. Furthermore, it’s going to keep the kid’s acting career going at least for six months more and keep the film businesses operating. And its guaranteed to make a shitload of money at the box office, purely from the fact that people will go to see if it really is as bad as they thought. Don’t tell me you won´t? You will. Just like you bought the Directors Cut edition.

So right, no need for this. Problems is that the Gossip Girl/One Tree Hill generation will think this one is great. You CAN NOT improve or follow “Donnie Darko” This is gonna suck. Even more stupid, this is not the kind of movie that warrants a sequel.

donnie darko is one of my favourite movies ever because of how confusing it is and the pure brilliance of it.
a follow up is not going to do it any justice first of all they cannot use a rabbit. the rabbit is significant because donnie kills the guy in the rabbit suit who goes back in time to talk to donnie etc what does that have to do with samantha!!!! honestly!!!

are you kidding me? Firstly, if there is no Jake Gyllenhaal I’m not watching it. Secondly… a sequal should only be created if it can top the first, in this case how do you do that? I can watch my DVD of Donnie Darko to this day and still be confused. I just feel bad for anyone who invested in this stupid idea.
i for one think this is a complete ad utter slap in the face of the actors and Richard Kelly. i dedicated my entire right calf to Donnie Darko the awesome, confusing movie that made it a cult classic. by making a insanely rediculous sequal is complete ignorance. no way in HELL will i advocate the viewing of this movie, and i hope the people involved go bankrupted for creating such a WHHHOORRIBLE “idea”.meteorites and fuckin rabbits, are they serious. i would rather go back to Iraq for another 15 months than watch such garbage. straight SHITE i tell you.

I really think the sequel will be horrible but I’m going to try and be optimistic about it. At least that chick isn’t bad looking and that new guy actually kinda looked like an older version of donnie. I think it’s cool that he “comes back” or something. Interesting trailer thing…. I hope it doesn’t suck.

I also think it really sucks Richard Kelly isn’t doing the sequel. With the reappearance of Donnie in the film I hope to kind of see what happens after he saves the world (besides seeing his family all depressed right afterward) Maybe find out what became of Gretchen Ross (and her mom on halloween). There is actually a lot of stuff that could be answered in the sequel (although most of it is irrelevant and doesn’t really matter.) Could still be quite interesting.
