Reference to THOR in ‘The Incredible Hulk’ Movie!
Venkman Here with a geeked out discussion. This is only my opinion, but I think it is a good one that makes allot of sense. I was talking to my brother about ‘The Incredible Hulk’ movie and he mentioned something that I just didn’t think about while watching the movie, but now it makes total sense! You may remember this scene.
After the battle with Blonsky at the Campus Hulk and Betty end up in North Carolina’s Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Betty wakes up in a cave during a massive thunder and lightning storm that came out of no where. The Hulk is staring down at Betty curiously and she screams. Hulk jumps and hits his head on the ceiling of the cave, she then starts to calm him down. Suddenly, lightning strikes and Hulk starts screaming at it, every time lightning struck Hulk would just get pissed off and yell at it at the top of his lungs he got so aggravated that he eventually threw a rock into the sky at the lightning.
I remember watching that scene and wondering why Hulk was getting so pissed off. The scene also lasted a good amount of time. Enough time to make a point. The point being that the lighting was caused by Thor and Hulks behavior is his recognition of Thor. There is a 5 year span that we don’t really know about before the the movie began, and there could have been a Thor and Hulk confrontation during that time. We don’t know but it would make sense. Hulk and Thor do have a history.
From what I understand from some research there is a point in the Marvel Universe where…
…Loki uses the Hulk as a lure to draw Thor out; while this proved successful, it results in the formation of the superhero team the Avengers, of which Thor is a founding and longstanding member.
This is just an observation but, this would make perfect sense for the Hulk to be a villain in the Avengers movie like Marvel has been talking about. The Hulk Vs. Thor Animated movie that is coming out is the story of Loki using Hulk to kill Thor. Maybe this all ties in. But in the end I think the Hulk yelling at the thunder and lightning storm is a reference to Thor. As is the most obvious link to the world when Bruce is in the hospital and over the loud speaker you hear “Paging Dr. Donald Blake”
What do you all think?

If this is true, I will be in geek heaven! I would love to see this fight on the big screen!
Actually I didn’t take that scene in the same way at ALL. The Hulk isn’t exactly the brightest guy…I thought it was clear he was just getting mad because he saw the thunder and lightning as a threat. You know, because he’s DUMB (and awesome).
That being said, I do seem to remember at some point in a hospital or…SOMEwhere in the movie where the name Dr Donald Blake was mentioned. Dr. Donald Blake. MUCH clearer. I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure I heard it.
I thought the same during that scene and also in the previous one when a sudden rain storm occurs to put out the fire caused by the chopper crash (when Hulk protects Betty). You could hear the crowd muttering ”Thor!”.
i think that scene was a done in respect to the first movie.
The scene with the helicopter was clearer. It´s a bright day, lots of sunlight. The second the fire starts and the general screams No! thunder, lightning, rainfall…
Funny – I mentioned that to myu friends right after the movie – the fact that Hulk was:
A) struck by lightning, in a scene that seemed out of place
B) pissed off and threw a rock at the sky.
Most of my friends dismissed it, except for tyhe guy who is a huge Thor fan.
But I did notice that scene at the time and did not even think about the sudden rain storm part.
I could not agree more with your assessments.
Well I guess all these theories could be true, but thor doesn’t strike from behind and the hulks behavior is normal for his level of intellect. the lightning strike is not out of place and the hulk would be expected to throw something back if he felt he was struck from above. the fight will happen without any tidbits thrown at us. have faith. the first step is a thor movie which maybe will happen in 2010. see you there in spirit
OK LET GAVIN SAVE U ALL N DROP SUM KNOWLEDGE.
I BELIEVE THE THUNDER WAS A LIL HINT AT THOR BUT THATS NOT ALL. THE CAMPUS BANNER WAS ON WAS A CAMPUS KNOWN FOR SCIENCE N THE THOR MOVIE COMING UP IS BASED AROUND A COLLEGE STUDENT THAT STUDIES IN THE MEDICLE/SCIENCE FIELD.
ALSO IF YOU NOTICE A VERY WEIRD AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE CHANGE IN WHEATHER HAPPENED AZ SOON BETTY WAS PUT IN DANGER BY THE HELICOPTER EXPLODING, IT JUST RAINED OUTTOV NO WHERE! BRIGHT SKIES AND EVERYTHING!
ALSO THEY MENTION THE WEIRD WHEATHER ON THE NEWS STATION BANNER WAS WATCHING AFTER THE COLLEGE STUDENTS REVEALED THAT FOOTAGE FROM THEIR PHONES.
THE LIGHTNING HITTING HULK, I THINK DATS JUST THE DIRECTORS WAY OV SAYING EXPECT THOR (2010) AND JUST TO LEAD UP TO THE HULK ACTUALLY CHALLENGING THE MIGHTY THOR!
good day
You really need to point out how the news caster was specific about the thunderstorm, “Further search for the mysterious Hulk was postponed by POWERFUL THUNDERSTORMS in the Smokey Mountain National Forest”.
Not relevant to THOR but did you all catch the reference to Jack Magee The annoying reporter who used to follow Bruce Banner in the original TV series of the HULK.
if you have the blu ray version of the movie, and you go frame by frame to 1:00:29:14 or 1:00:29:15, you will see the distictive shape of SOMEONE falling from the sky. unless the rock somehow changed it’s shape from being hurled by the hulk, this is definitely something else. check it out, and let me know what you think.
I am going to check that out eRRaTyC!
There is definitely an object falling from the sky in the mountain scene, makes sense that they are alluding to Thor, dropping subtle suggestions.
I noticed also that when Hulk jumps out of the campus to face the soldiers (just before battle with Blonsky) and Ross you can see lightning above which is strange considering it was clear earlier in the scene.
Holy Crap!
That was Thor flying away, not falling. Mjolnir turned that boulder into dust, it didn’t knock Thor out of the aky.
Although it’s strange that the rain appears when there’s a fire, there’s plenty of lightning when the campus scene starts. I can make out at least two ligtning bolts in the distance and the sky is pretty cloudy too, it isn’t- watch the scene again…
That said, I also believe that Thor directs the thunderstorm, especially over the mountains.
i like how if you see something falling from the sky, or a shadow in the dark, or a glimpse of light in the background, or speck that flys by, you ALL make it into something that its not. Its just raining! that IT. This is not an Allusion to THOR! the Freakin director cant even make it rain without you people Trying, Begging, and FORCING something to be seen in the scene that is NOT really there. Then rumors of it spreads like a disease. STOP doing that. If the scene had THOR in it, then the Director would have eventually revealed it. But he Didnt. Next you’ll be saying Superman is in the sky too!
I agree with you! there is Nothing there
I examined the scene very carefully and i did see something fall, but all it is, is the rock that the Hulk throws into the sky moments before, its common sense
Superman was in the sky though!
You can supposedly see Thor in the sky for a seconds, flying away after he struck Thor with lightning. It’s the little black dot in the sky in the back of Thor, right before or after he yells… if you play it in slow motion you can kinda sees it… actually it’s right after he throws the boulder.. people say it was the boulder, but I think it was Thor too.
well out me in an oven and bake me for 40 minutes
this makes perfect sense
i just thought hulk was aggravated by the storm
wow i need 2 train my eyes more
apparently if you look in slow motion at that scene you can see Thor flying down
if you look at the forest/rock throwing scene again, you will notice its not the rock he threw falling as lighting does not pick up a rock and flash lighting elsewhere to throw it back down again there IS a lighting bolt THEN the rock/thor falls from the sky!
As far as i know this is a direct refernse to thor. As stated above there was a refernse already made to him in the hosptial all im saying is there is a high posibility that tis could just be a little hint to the thor movie or maybe Thor really was in the movie because abiet the hulk is very slow and i did think that he was just reacting to the storm. But maybe there is just a very small possiblity that it was Thor, i mean they do have a history together and so what if the director didnt mention it, the dierctor never mentioned the Captain America Shelid in the Iron Man movie, and also the sudden change in weather, lets just for the tome being belive that yes it ws him and start forming our own ideas, at least till the thor movie
