More Batman 3 Casting rumors… Johnny Depp as The Riddler?

Venkman here with some more Batman 3 casting rumors. R.P. McMurphy posted a rumor earlier this week about Angelina Jolie wanting to play Catwoman. Well Now we have yet another rumor that Batman producers want Johnny Depp to play The Riddler. UK Daily Telegraph’s inside sourse says:
“Producers are convinced that the role of The Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny’s a pro. He’ll be able to take direction and still make the character his own. And what better Penguin is there than Philip Seymour Hoffman?” a source said.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold the freakin phone, Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin? Well this is just getting better by the second! I have no doubt Johnny Depp would make an amazing Riddler, but I doubt it will ever happen. As for Hoffman as the Penguin I just cant see that character exsisting in the Gotham world Nolan has created. But who knows what he has in mind. What ever Nolan decides to do for the next film, I will be 100% behind him. he obviously knows what hes doing.
What do you think about these new casting rumors? Do ya love em or hate em? To be honest I am still kind of keen to the idea of Anthony Micheal Hall playing The Riddler.
Johnny Depp is one of the greatest actors alive but I think he is too big to play The Riddler. I like Anthony Michael Hall in that role. Hoffman as Penguin could work. He would probably simply be in a tuxedo the whole time. Wait…didn’t Hoffman do that for another flick?
Depp did do a great job in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, so we know he can play that sinister role. Hoffman on the other hand, just doesn’t seem to work for me. Like the Doc said, however, Nolan knows what he is doing. So if that is his choice, then we know that it will be the perfect fit.
Depp and hoffman would be great villains in the next upcoming Batman, but i would have to say that the only way to match or top the performance by Heath Ledger as the joker would be to cast another fantastic method actor, Daniel Day Lewis. Lewis even dedicated his SAG best actor award to Ledger. After seeing such an amazing role played by Ledger, why wouldn’t Lewis want a piece of the action?
Depp is a good choice,but Hoffman? Thats a fucking joke….he is a good actor of course…..but hell no / Batman is not for him.
I think Jim Carrey should return as The Riddler. Is a great comedian but I think he can bring something more, and create a deeper more terrifying Riddler than we could imagine.
i think johnn depp would be a better riddler than jim carrey and he can adapt to any role he plays
i love Johnny Depp and think he would be absolutly amazing as the Riddler. He is the perfect person for the job and he would add so much to the film! as for Angelina Jolie as Catwoman… i just dont think shes rite for the part. She just doesnt fit into the image of Catwoman for me. And as to the Penguin, i realy dont think that he should even play a role in the new Batman movie. After all his issue was more with Alfred than Batman himself.
i would agree that Johnny Depp would be perfect for the role and he would be able to keep the kind of movie theme and a sense of darkness to it. As for hoffman though, he just couldnt cut it for this and neither could angelina jolie. they should introduce someone who isnt as well known in the villians, like black mask. i think that would be interesting
I think that Johnny Depp would be a wonderful addition to the Batman cast. However I do not think that Angelina Jolie would make a good cat woman. I have heard rumors of Cher playing that role and I believe that she would be a much better fit for that role.
I think that johnny depp is a great choice for the riddler , but i feel that the return of jim carrey would be even better for that role.As for catwoman i’d really like haley barry to take on that role and george clooney to be two-face.It’s much better than hoffman as penguin.
I liked Carrey but I think Depp would do a good job. I don’t think we should go back to “old” actors, Nolan is obviously trying new methods, and new combinations of villains, and of course new actors.

and THANK GOD they’re not going to keep switching up on BATMAN’S this time! I hope Christian Bale doesn’t surprisingly abandon us. (and, omg fuckin george clooney, are you serious?!?!)
I’m beginning to trust Nolan, with the way he’s doing things, and the direction he’s taking them. something I’ve never done with any “comic book turned movie.”
he REALLY knows what he’s doing. These are the best COMIC BOOK movies (not just Batman movies; all COMIC BOOK movies) I’ve ever seen. (love spider-man… but movies sucked ass)
but I do have to say that, even though i trust him, I REALLY HOPE Depp will be Riddler. I think his acting as Riddler will be somewhat similar as a combination of his acting as the awkward, slightly mental Willy Wonka, and his evilness in Once Upon a Time In Mexico.
BTW Michelle Pfeiffer (dont know how to spell it) was THE BEST CATWOMAN EVER!!! (halle berry, total fail!)
I swear to jeebus the only thing that i KIND OF wasn’t happy with, was that she didn’t look like your typical pouty lipped, thick bottomed, big breasted, curvy, pornstar looking Catwoman that we are used to see in the comic books. (however she did look JUST LIKE the Catwoman in the cartoon Batman series from the 90’s)
I hope this time they find someone as talented as Michelle, but also fits the part physically.
. (Tomb Raider, Girl Interrupted, Gia, Taking Lives, Hackers, Mr&Mrs. Smith, Foxfire) she could’ve played Catwoman a few years ago when she was a little curvier (she has not butt now, no offence. still lover her! 
)
Personally, Angelina Jolie fits Catwoman as far as face appearance, and her tendency to play hardcore/dominant/action and psycho/mental/emotional/fucked up women
But what ever Nolan chooses, is probably a good choice. What’s more important, is that they play the character well, much like his past villains have.
