Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter takes creepy to a whole new level

Here is the first photo of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burtons ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and he looks incredibly creepy. He looks scarier here than he did in Sweeny Todd. Good Grief this is going to be one hell of a crazy looking film. With people like this walking Wonderland is going to be a one pretty scary place for Alice to get lost in.

Why? Why does Tim Burton keep on trying to scare the little children? We all know you’re good at making things creepy, Tim, but at what cost? I’m gonna have nightmares now.

  2. Curtisbeef on November 17th, 08

oh god please stop making this movie immediately…

  3. Lola on November 17th, 08

oh stop it! he made big fish and that wasn’t scary!

and he’s got a knack for making things dark. thats his thing! he is a master at it.

  4. groonk on November 18th, 08

  8. cornielius on December 22nd, 08

Hay but no offense to the people who think Tim Burton is trying to scare kids he’s not its just a whole new prospective of what he is trying to do. I’m out!

For once I think Tim should have stayed on the straight path. This is not what I was hoping for. I mean you have such a GREAT actor like Johnny Depp in your movie. You need to try something different. It gets old doing it the same way all the time. This is way to dark for Alice and Wonderland. I was going to take my 5 year old little girl. But now I am not sure about this. Its kinda scary looking. Just my 2 cents…

Why couldn’t/wouldn’t he do this movie in the same light that he did Willy Wonka? It would be so much friendlier to all ages…

  11. ana on March 12th, 09

i think this is great!!! think about it.. the movie is already a little twisted. that or somebody was smoking.

  12. Mary Jane on March 13th, 09

Alice in Wonderland IS CREEPY have you READ IT?! Disney made it crap!

  13. Matt on March 13th, 09

YOU GO TIM BURTON! THATS AWESOME!!!!! Way to fix one of the darkest children’s book and save it from that HORRID Disney Crap!

  14. Angie on March 24th, 09

Tim is just a very Macob artist, with a specialty in the “Dark” arts, this movie is just the icing on his cake, its beautiful.

  15. Liz on March 26th, 09

This movie s going to be AWESOME, I have been waiting for 3 years since the anouncement of it. Tim Burton is in his own league, he’s like the McFarlane of movies! I can’t wait for this movie to come out, it’s going to be great. What’s a Tim Burton film without darkness, Helena, and Johnny!

  16. Discordia on April 19th, 09

Oh ffs. All the people griping about him re-making this movie as “dark” should actually go read the book, and quit watching the Disney version of it. Haven’t you people learned yet that Disney sugarcoats and dumbs everything down?

I suppose if he was to have re-made The Little Mermaid the way the story really was written, people would moan and complain about it being “too dark”. Guess what people…the mermaid dies. There is no happy ending.

I cnat wait for this to come out tim burtonby far my favourite director of all time. The darkness makes the movies good its different from other crap as movies that come out and i for one am for this alice and wonderland being another classic tim burton film and its bonus that johnny (awesome) and helena are in it…..cant wait to see it!!

  18. Maranda on May 27th, 09

^_^ The mermaid dies but she gets a soul :D

I think this is absolutely perfect! The guy who plays the voice of Reaver in Fable II will be playing the Cheshire cat! Yay! He was also bloody brilliant in V for Vendetta. Johny Depp will be amazing in this. He already looks super cute, It will be interesting to see the difference between his demeanor and the Mad Hatter from Disney. Hopefully he has a bigger role as well.

who does helena play in this movie? i didnt evn kno she was in it!

  20. rhianna on June 24th, 09

Actually, there isn't a whole lot about Alice and Wonderland that is incredibly suitable for children. It's a twisted up mess of politics, executions and drug use. I'm not at all surprised or upset by Burton making it dark.

  21. Paula on June 29th, 09

Most fairy tales were originally made to scare children.

  22. DAGAocena on July 7th, 09
