A voice has been cast for the Enterprise Computer in JJ’s Star Trek

It will be the same person who voiced the computer in the original Star Trek series. The widow of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, will reprise her role as the voice of the Starship Enterprise computer in JJ Abrams‘ Star Trek. Majel Barrett-Roddenberry has provided the voice of starship onboard computers for The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise, most of the Star Trek films and computer games. This is a pretty classy move if you ask me.

there would have been no other way they could have done this. With all of the changes they have already made this is a breath of fresh air to keep it even more seeded in the Star Trek franchise.

Seriously though, should it suprise anyone? I don’t think JJ had any other choice. Part of me always hopes things like that will go a different direction, but Chris Tucker and Angela Lansbury were probably too busy. At least there’s a little hope that she’ll sound like an old lady, which could make it more entertaining.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to the movie.
