Casting Confirmation: Keanu Reeves will play Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop

A few months ago rumors spread like wildfire on the internet that Keanu Reeves would play Spike Spiegel in a movie version of Cowboy Bebop. Well, today we have confirmation that those rumors are no longer rumors but hard facts. As you know Reeves was last seen in the awful remake of ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’. The film will be made over at Twentieth Century Fox, so we know there is a big chance the movie going to suck. I fyou don’t already know ‘Cowboy Bebop’ is a movie that will be based on a Japanese anime TV series. Varity reports: Reeves will take on the role of Spike Spiegel, an adventurous bounty hunter traveling through space in 2071. Story follows the adventures of a group of bounty hunters traveling on their spaceship, the Bebop. Peter Craig has been tapped to write the screenplay.
I think this is yet another world where Keanu Revees acting ability and personality will fit in perfectly. What do you think?

I love Cowboy Bebop so much and this just made me throw up in my mouth. Keanu could never be Spike. GRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I saw this coming a mile away. This is a horrible choice. Keanu will cheapen Cowboy Bebop. He lacks the depth of Spike. Fox doesn’t know what the fuck they are doing. The movie will suck anyways (as does every other anime turned U.S. live-action film) so I guess it doesn’t really matter.

This definitely blows. I predict this movie will be horrible and give the original series a bad name. Booooooo
You guys do realize he's partially the reason this movie is being made, right? Plus, he is a huge fan of the show and of anime in general. If you gotta hate, might I recommend Michael Bay's latest catastrophe?
