Robert Rodriguez rebooting “PREDATOR”?

Ok everybody just calm the freak down! I have read three articles so far with a “holy shit” involved. Some people are probably giddy with geeky excitement then there are those that are cursing with fanboy rage. Where do i stand on the matter? I think The Predator could use a good movie. Those Alien Vs. Predator crap movies did more harm than good for these bad-ass hunter aliens, even the direct sequel to ‘Predator’ sucked. I for one would like to see another good ‘Predator’ flick.
This is all just a big rumor for now, but it started over at bloody-disgusting when a “reliable source” dropped them a line that revealed Robert Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios will be producing the next “Predator” movie for 20th Century Fox. Now the pitch being sent around Hollywood is that there will be more than one Predator:
“In the reboot a team of commandoes face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.”
Like I said this is a rumor and a long shot. Rodriguez has a good amount of projects he is already working on such as Sin City 2 and 3, a film called Shorts, Red Sonja, and Nerveraker which I can’t find any information on but apparently he is directing it. So take this all with a grain of salt.
In the mean time would you want to see a new predator film?
I actually liked Predator 2. I liked the comic book that the movie was based on a bit better but i liked the idea of it being in the city.
I just hope this isn’t an attempt at a remake or reimagining or whatever. I hope this is just a “Predator 3″ kind of thing. even if it has nothing to do with the other movies.
I like the second movie like you Mr. Black, i really want to see how Robert do it a big restart of the series.
I’m not sure a re-boot will work. Aside from being too recent I think and most is explained in the movies, the problem I have is, ok, so where do we go with the Predator character itself?
It’s unfortunate the Pred vs Aliens did not take off how they hoped, my guess is because of story and execution, because the comic books were very successful.
But i am stumped as to like ok..where do we go with the character..
Mr. Black – I am having a tough time understanding what you exactly want. You say you don’t want it to be a reboot but rather a direct sequel that has nothing to do with the first two movies (as an option). So wouldn’t a third Predator movie that has nothing to do with the first two films be a reboot?
Please do something with this franchise….part 2 was nothing more than a shell of its former self (part 1) and the AVP movies are a joke. Bring out a gang of Bad Ass Predators that arent getting wasted every few minutes or dying at the end of the movie. The portrayal of the Predators so far is nothing more than Outter Space Kamikazes and if they are so “Bad ASS”….SHOW ME!!
Mann is the Man… I guess I didn’t explain myself well. I would like to see a Predator 3 as either a continuation from the first 2 or just a movie that has the same feel, type of Predator, even if it is continuing the story lines from the other films.
I just really wish they had done AVP based off the original comics that take place right after “Aliens”
i think that only some as qualifed as robert or quentin should write the script but no one other than ridley himself in colabiration w\ john mcteirnan should direct do anything less would be appauling…john from elpaso tx.79912
