Gore Verbinski to Direct Another CLUE Movie

Yep, Universal Pictures is making ‘Clue’, which will be based on the popular board game from Hasbro. Like the first time around the movie will be a live-action murder mystery. This is obviously the second time ‘Clue’ gets it’s big screen debut, there was a great little version done in 1985 that starred Tim Curry, if you have not seen it then you gotta check it out.

As you probably know already, In the board game, competitors solve a murder that was committed either by Professor Plum, Ms. White, Col. Mustard, Miss Peacock, Mr. Green or Ms. Scarlet. The killer would use either a knife, rope, candlestick, wrench, pistol or a lead pipe to commit the murder. Variety Reports:

Verbinski will produce through his U-based Blind Wink banner, along with Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir, who also have an overall deal at the studio.

“Clue,” which was previously turned into a 1985 film, becomes the latest Hasbro property to be set for the bigscreen. The toymaker has “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra,” both of which will be distributed by Paramount this summer. At Universal, Hasbro hatched “Stretch Armstrong,” which just set Steve Oedekerk as writer; the Ridley Scott-directed “Monopoly”; “Candyland,” which Etan Cohen (”Tropic Thunder”) is writing for Kevin Lima to direct; and “Ouija,” which is being produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes banner.

There are a good amount of board games being made into movies these days! So we can add it on the list of where Hollywood gets their movie ideas from along with comic books, and video games. I think Verbinski is a great director and this movie really came out of the blue, but I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised. I am excited to see what he does with it. I am still a big fan of the original, I used to watch that movie over and over again when I was a kid. What do you think?

Wow. My friend texted me the new this morning.

The Original Clue (wow, that’s weird that i am going to have to say that) is seriously my all time favorite movie. I can watch it over and over. The casting is superb and its one of those extremely clever movies that gets better each time you watch it.

Not really sure it need a re-make. Actually i know it doesn’t.

Lets just say that they better to a pretty darn good job, get the most excellent cast ever, and there BETTER BE THREE ENDINGS!

I agree with Kate. Jonathan Lynn’s “Clue” (1985) is my favourite comedy, a masterpiece in every way. If you haven’t seen it, you must…
