GREEN LANTERN Casting Rumors have begun

As you know Warner Bros. set the release date for it’s ‘Green Lantern’ film for 2010. It’s about time they get someone cast in the role of Hal Jordan. According to LatinoReview Sam Worthington was up for the role but can’t do it because of his involvement with ‘Clash of the Titans’. After that Ryan Gosling was repoted being a candidate for the part but he passed on it, also passing on the role was Emile Hirsch. Apparently Warner Bros is looking for a younger type actor to fill the Green Lanterns shoes. So who is the next person on the list they want to hit up for the role? I have to tell you I wasn’t expecting it, I still don’t see it, and this is a big rumor right now, but one of LR sources say that actor Anton Yelchin is now up for the part.

Anton Yelchin is a great actor, ever since I saw him in Stephen Kings adaptation ‘Hearts in Atlantis’ I knew he was going to make it in this crazy business. He also starred in ‘Alpha Dog’ and also plays Kyle Reese in ‘Terminator Salvation’, and Checkov in J.J. Abrams ‘Star Trek’. Even though he is a great actor I just can’t see him in the role of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern. But then again I haven’t seen him wear the ring or the famous green and black superhero costume. Who even knows if this is true or not? Anybody have anything to say about it?

I’m on the same page about him being too young. He’s a great actor would have made a good Ender when Anton was younger, he has an air of intelligence and heart about him.

I hate when these producers and directors think they have to go young to get an audience. I think Iron Man proved that theory to be Bullshit. Its a DC thing, Kate Bosworth was too young to be taken seriously as a respected journalist. Katie Holmes too young to be a successful DA. Their presence marred the movies IMO. I dig Anton Yelchin, Charlie Bartlett was great, but again to babyfaced to be Hal Jordan. Wasn’t he an experienced combat pilot? All I can say is, with Lost wrapping up soon they’d be retarded not to go for Matthew Fox. They could film in Lost downtime, then by the time they’re ready for a sequel, he’ll be free and clear.

Matthew Fox loved him as Racer X. He would be a great Green Lantern.

I have to agree. He’s too young to be believable- good actor or not. Hell, I have a hard time believing that he’s old enough to be an Test pilot, let alone to be on a plane without an accompanying adult! If they’re going to go this route, why not just make the next movie “Justice League Babies” and the can use all toddlers and just digitize their mouths moving. They could just put all of their individual logos on their diapers so that we can tell them apart!

    (Sample dialogue)
Superbaby: I’ll stop the evil Despero! After all, I’m “The Man of Tomorrow!”

Wonder Baby: You won’t even BE a man “until” tomorrow.

    Batbaby: Mmph.

Superbaby: Batbaby, is that your normal grunting acquiescience that you’ve come up with a plan that will help us all win the day from a foe that is superior in power to us?

Batbay: Nah. I just made a fudgie in my bat-diaper. ALLLLLLFREEEEED!!!

See? I’m sure DC would think it’ll be a sure-fire hit. (Sadly, the way they think, I might not be wrong!)
