Hey! Brett Ratner is going to direct ‘Youngblood’ now.

Good Grief. I’m so sorry, I don’t even know what to say to you except that The Indian media conglum has acquired the rights to Rob Liefeld’s comic ‘Youngblood’ and that Brett Ratner is going to direct it. I honestly can’t believe they are going to let him direct another movie, especially a comic book adaptation because he really f-ed up X-Men 3 didn’t he! This is a comic book I read when I was growing up, I remember going to the comic book store all the time to see if they got the new issue in. I really enjoyed it and now leave it to Brett Ratner to screw it up. How this guy manages to keep making films baffles the hell out of me. Variety reports:
“Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and ‘Youngblood’ is one of the few comic books left with tent pole potential,” Ratner told Daily Variety. “It was a real personal passion project for me, and a lot of people wanted (‘Youngblood’), but the amazing thing about the guys at Reliance is the speed with which they’re able to move.”
Ratner inked an overall deal with Par last July after a longstanding setup at New Line. His Reliance deal does not impact its terms but rather lends him financial clout to acquire and develop projects he can then offer to the studio.
“The great thing with Reliance is they also have the ability to partner up or co-finance the film with a studio,” added Ratner. “It really offers freedom for the talent they’re working with.”
Yeah, freedom to frack it up. It looks like Brett Ratner is not going to stop making movies anytime soon. For some odd reason people keep asking him to direct movies that end up being crap. If you are not sure what Youngblood is about here is a short description.
Youngblood was a high-profile superteam sanctioned and overseen by the United States Government. The members of Youngblood include Shaft, a former FBI agent and archer whose bow uses magnets to propel its arrow instead of a string; Badrock, a teenager transformed into a living block of stone; Vogue, a Russian fashion model with purple-and-chalk-white skin; and Chapel, a government assassin.
It really is just a typical comic book, but the draw for me is that when I was younger it was the first comic book I started from the first issue. I belive Youngblood was the first 1st issue I ever owned. I also thought the characters and story was cool.

Glad I’ve never heard of it. Sorry to those who have because this one is gonna be a RedBoxer at best…
Youngblood was garbage, as well as poorly drawn. They should make a movie out of Whilce Portacio’s Wetworks.
Out of all the comics to come from Image Comics they chose to do Youngblood? The only good character is Chapel. Do a movie just about him, that would be better, especially if they tied it into Spawn some how.
I would way rather see Wetworks. That would be an amazing comic book movie or how about Stormwatch or even Cyber-Force. At least we are gonna get a Fathom movie and a Wichblade film.
Ratner directing Youngblood…..seems to fit to me. Both kind of suck.
