DANTE’S INFERNO will be Scripted by X-Men 2 Screenwriter Dan Harris

In Feb. we reported that Universal Picture won the bidding war for the rights to a Electronic Arts video game called ‘Dante’s Inferno’. Universal will turn the yet to be released video game into a movie. You can read more about that news, and watch the trailer for the game Right Here. It looks like it’s gonna be pretty damn cool.

It is being reported that ‘X2: X-Men United’ and ‘Superman Returns’ screenwriter Dan Harris has been brought in to write the script for the film version of ‘Dante’s Inferno’. I liked X-Men 2 and I am interested to see what he will bring to the story.

The story is a modern interpretation of the epic poem from Dante’s Divine Comedy. It will take the player and audience on an adventure through the nine circles of hell! The nine levels are organized by sins: Limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud, and treachery.

well actually it’s wrath not anger. hmmm the major difference being that in ancient greece noone would torch down apollo’s temple only cause they were angry.
it has a certain feeling of injustice (so it’s a revenge driven wrath or rage).
but in any case, that was not what i meant to write.
my point is that well … have you watched the old Odyssey (’97 i believe)? it was not half bad but on the other hand, can you really be familiar with homer’s version and still find the movie decent?
What i mean is that there are some certain pieces of work that can not be translated into movies.
Or SHOULD NOT if you like.
