FANTASTIC FOUR is getting some reboot action!?

So are you really surprised that Fantastic Four is already going to remade, rebooted, reimagined, whatever the hell you want to call it, according to IESB 20th Century Fox is going to do it. It looks like we are going to get a new version of ‘Fantastic Four’. I could honestly care less, I didn’t like the first two movies, I thought they could have and should have did a much better job. They possibly can’t make it any worse than it already was. IESB reports:
The two films previously released never really caught on with the fans and the studio is reportedly looking to completely retool, recast and recrew the franchise. This means no Tim Story, no Iaon, no Julian (thank the maker, he never sat well with me as Dr. Doom), no Chris, no Chiklis and no Jessica.
That’s all fine with me. The best part of the movie was Chiklis as The Thing. I imagine this next time around The Thing will be CG. The first two movies didn’t do too bad at the box office. The first film made $330 Million in 2005 and The second movie made $290 Million in 2007. No matter what they end up doing with this new Fantastic Four movie the name has already been tainted, fans hated the movies, and it got awful reviews. Because of the bad taste that the last films left in our mouth I think even with a new hardcore reboot it wont make more than $290 million.
The franchise is looking to be “less bubble gum” this time round following the Iron Man template, which was a complete success in reviews and box office take but a bit darker when it came to its superhero. Iron Man was in no way as dark as The Dark Knight but was funny, action-y as well as a bit on the serious side.
Well, hopefully they understand that Iron Man had an incredibly talented creative team with a great vision and limited studio interference. When the studio execs did come into play they had a good vision as well. As we all know FOX execs loves to stick their nose’s into the productions and screw around with things using bad judgment, like what they did with Cyclops in ‘X-Men 3′ and Deadpool in Wolverine. I am still waiting to see what they did for ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. In all honestly now that I’ve thought about it, I think this whole new Fantastic Four movie is going to be just as bad as the first two films but in a reimagined way.
What do you think?

I remember a time when, if they made a movie they did everything in their power to get it right the first time and now it seems that Hollywood has gotten lazy. “Oh wait, they didn’t like it? we fucked up! fine! let’s just reboot it!” Why not take the time to get it right the first time around instead of giving us all of these so called ‘rebooted, reimaginings’ of crappy movies they tried to feed us in the first place?
What’s next? X-Men – the reimaging! Oooh wait wait! they could reshoot the star wars movies without the emo! -.-
They should only to a reboot if they’re gonna make it huge. I don’t mean Michael Bay explosions huge, but epic. And with as much realism as possible; how would people react? Here you have four people who go to space and return with powers. If that happened, these people would be looked upon by certain people (I’m sure, look at how people worship Miley Cyrus, cuz she can wear a wig on TV) as gods among men, who returned from the (perceived) heavens with these miraculous powers; the hope for mankind. That’d be a heavy burden to live with for the FF, and it’s something Reed would expect them all to live up to. So yeah, it needs to have an epic and most important, serious feel(but not humorless, after all what would a FF movie be without “It’s Clobberin’ Time!”). Modern mythology.
With the first movie(s) I never knew if I was supposed to be laughing along or trying to take it serious.
i think since now that marvel has their own studio, they should make all of their movies themselves. That way you know it will be done right and we won’t have to worry about “creative licenses.”
hey Jollyjoe, the reason they don’t make their own movie like X-Men, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and Spider Man is because Marvel No longer has the rights to them. Studios like FOX and Sony Bought the rights to these properties and have them for a certain amount of time where they can do whatever the hell they want. I am not sure when Marvel gets these rights back, but when they do i am sure they will make these movies they way they were suppose to be made.
Jollyjoe, I’m right there with ya! These movies need to be made by geeks for geeks! Why hasn’t Hollywood learned from LOTR, Batman Returns, Iron Man, and Watchmen (even those who don’t like it can say it’s much better than Terminator 3 or X-Men 3)? You can’t water down an iconic idea to appeal to the masses. The mainstream won’t buy into it and the fanboys will just be upset.
Stop trying to make things cooler by renaming Brawl or adding lips to Snake Eyes. If it was good enough to be a phenomenon in the 80s it’s good enough for a geek movie in 2009!

that’s is correct…now Iron Man and Dark Knight are a milestone in comics, and that’s good, like Blade too, but no Spidy always in love bla bla bla…they destroyed the comic.
As long as they dispense with another ‘how they became the FF’ movie, rein in the lightheartedness, and just launch into some bone-crushing action, then there is a glimmer of hope. A faint glimmer, but a glimmer all the same -LOL
