Forest Whitaker gets replaced by 50 in The Expendables

This is just awful news. A great actor that was going to be in a bad ass movie gets replaced by a bad actor that technically shouldn’t be acting. The reason Whitaker left the project was due to production start delays, which just sucks. I was excited Whitaker came on board the movie and thought he could add a little class to the rest of the team. Has 50 cent ever done anything worth watching on the big screen? I think not. But, that’s just me. As disappointing as this is I am still excited to see the movie because it has a crazy cast of film badasses. Sylvester Stallone tells AICN:
“there’s enough testosterone and ego in this film to float a large continent covered in elephants,”
Which is so very true! With Sly Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Eric Roberts, Mickey Rourke, and Randy Couter you really cant go wrong. I am sure there are a lot of people upset about this casting change like myself and to that Stallone replies:
“The anger of the casting of 50 Cent is understandable, but not fair. A player is only as good as his coach. If a man can communicate in one medium, he can communicate in another if his strengths are brought out and he has the support of well-wishers.”
So there you have it folks. Whats done is done, one casting change like this is not going to kill the movie. It would have been nice if things worked out for Whitaker though. Your thoughts?
I am disappointed in Whitaker leaving the project, but I am excited to see Fiddy joining the cast. Mostly because he is a stacked and I think it will add that much more testosterone to the film. I see you were upset at the casting Doc? I have rseen 50 Cent in his Get Rich or Die Trying biopic (as well as Righteous Kill which was pretty bad) and I actually enjoyed the film. I think you should give it a shot if you have not already. Maybe because I had such low expectations; either way, I think it is worth a viewing. He is not a great actor, but then again, I do not think Randy Couter is either but I was excited to see him cast too.
