Kevin Smiths new Film A Couple of Dicks gets a title change

People sure do like to give Kevin Smith a hard time on his movies and movie titles. His ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’ was banned in a utah theater chain because of the title, and he was given such a hard time with his movie poster designs that it ended up being a couple of stick figures which was brilliant.
Yesterday it was announced that Kevin Smith would be directing his first studio film from a script he did not write. The movie WAS called ‘A Couple of Dicks’ and was written by Robb and Mark Cullen. The story is about ”two veteran LAPD detectives attempt to track down a stolen, mint-condition, 1952 baseball card.” It may not sound that interesting but the film stars Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis. The script was also on the 2008 Blacklist which is a Hollywood insider list of best unproduced screenplays. So there is a chance it could actually be a pretty entertaining film.
Now here is the ridiculous part about the whole thing. It looks Warner Bros. has decided to change the tile of the film from ‘A Couple of Dicks’ to ‘A Couple of Cops’? What the hell!? Is that not one of the most boring and unimaginative titles you have heard? The first title isn’t really that great either but at least it has a little punch to it, a little flare. The way Hollywood runs things never ceases to amaze me. They sure do keep things interesting, but they like to pick on Kevin Smith.

Ok, this is just ridiculous! First of all I´m tired of this censorship bullshit, but also of the fact that multi-billion dollar companies can just dictate just about everything. Yeah, you got me on a bad day with this article (although it is just want I like to read and I support your site), because today the government of Finland (where I live) is voting on a law that would give your boss access to your e-mails etc (there is more to this, but I wont bore you with the details). Even the police don´t have this kind of right! And the worst thing about this is that the law was originally put to motion by Finland’s biggest company Nokia, that thread to live Finland if this law wouldn’t pass. But anyway cool site, keep up the good work!
This is just unbelievable! It’ SHIT! A couple of cops? If there’s a reason NOT to see the film it’s because of the stupid friggin’ title! Thanks for the report! Big Kevin Smith fan over here in NJ. Beautiful site btw!
