When I first heard about this movie I wasn’t really sure what to expect, then Zack Snyder briefly talked about it at the Watchmen screening I went to, and one thing he said that sparked my interest was the fact that after he already made a movie like ‘300′ and ‘Watchmen’ he still feels he has not made an action film and ‘Sucker Punch’ is going to be that hardcore balls out action film he has always wanted to make. He also described it as Alice in Wonderland with machine guns. I have heard a few other things about the project but none of them confirmed until now. IESB recently interviewed Zack Snyder to talk about the movie and he talks about, the action and casting. 

Sucker Punch is going to be a hard rated ‘R’ movie and it has a $85 million budget to play with and starts shooting this June. The rumor on the street is that Amanda Syfried is in talks to play the lead role. She started in films such as ‘Mean Girls’, ‘Mama Mia’, and is in the HBO series ‘Big Love’. As for this casting decision Snyder say’s that she is “great” and “cool” but that she recently signed on to another film so she may have other obligations, but they are trying to work things out. If it does work out she would play the lead role. But we should start getting some casting news in about a month. There are five girls that need to be cast in the film and it sounds like he has got actresses in mind for all of them.

As for what to expect from the movie action wise Snyder says:

Damon [Caro] and I are really, Damon is my stunt choreographer, we’re really trying, I’ve been drawing each shot, we’re just trying to make these action sequences just out of this – just off the frickin scale, planet. Cause I really feel like I’ve never really had the opportunity to make an action movie you know, I mean 300 is action-y but not like I could be, you know, with no rules and machine guns and just everything. I feel like there’s huge potential there that I haven’t really gotten to explore, so that’s kind of what I am excited about.

I am am excited myself to see what he has in store for this movie. Snyder is great at delivering the action, so to see him do something he thinks is off the frickin planet is something I am really looking forward to seeing. As for the casting I think Amanda Syfried would be perfect for the role. So what do you all think? Are you excited to see what he is going to do with ‘Sucker Punch’?

Entertainment Weekly is reporting  the following girls to be cast in Zack Snyders ‘Sucker Punch’ Amanda Seyfried (Jennifer’s Body, Mama Mia), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Abbie Cornish (Stop-Loss), Evan Rachel Wood (The Wrestler, Across The Universe), and Emma Stone (Superbad) are in talks to join the all-female cast in the 1950’s set film that takes place in an Insane Asylum.
