FALLOUT Video Game is One step closer to becoming a Movie

Would be be interested in seeing the video game Fallout being adapted into a movie or TV series but it might be something that will eventually happen. The first step toward putting a movie or series like this into production was apparently taken back in February when Bethesda Software and ZeniMax media the developers of the game applied for the Fallout trademark for:
“Entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program”
And
“Motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world”
There is no word on whether or not that have started any type of production, but it is obvious that the video game developers have been thinking about it. If it goes TV series it would have to be Syfy or preferably HBO. I think it would make one hell of awesome movie though. But it has to have that same dark gritty hard core feel that the game has.
Here is a short plot summary of the game:
Fallout is set several years after several conflicts occuring in the world. China invaded Alaska some time after the second world war. The United States annexed Canada, and the Resource war (a war over control of the planet’s last resources) occurs. After over 120 years of conflict, on October 23rd, 2077, a global nuclear attack occurred. Nobody knows who was the first to strike, but in less than two hours, the world and most major cities were almost completely devastated. The effects of the attack would not go away for more than 100 years. Even so, humanity lived on through the use of underground Vaults (many other out-of-Vault humans do survive, but are affected by radiation and the many other threats that the nuclear Wasteland has to offer).
This really could be an incredible film. I hope they end up pushing it to get made. Would you rather see a Fallout movie or TV show? Both? Or Neither?

Wow, interesting news here, thanks for tweeting.
To be honest with you, the film would kick-ass, only it were done by the right people, because only a fraction of video-game to film conversions work.
But a TV Show? It could work, and it could work well, or it could fail.
I guess only time will tell.
To quote Darth Vader: “Nooooooooooooooooooo!” I love Fallout, 3 is one of the greatest games of all-time…and as much as I’d like to see a movie made, I don’t want it to happen. I doubt they could capture the gritty, grimy epic feel. The details that made places like Megaton, the Capital Wasteland and the vaults so memorable. The terror of facing down a Deathclaw. I’m afraid it’d just be The Road Warrior with CGI creatures. And god forbid someone like Uwe Boll gets it…
I have to admit, this excites the fangirl inside me, she stirs like a lion she does.
Ideally the way i would love to see this go down would be for HBO to pick it up and then make a beautifully written, visual orgasm as they are very well known for doing. Give us a movie that lays down all of the ground work, introduce characters, set the scene and pick up all the heavy work that TV shows are often cancelled early because of. Then lay it out in a 12 episode a season show ala Rome and True Blood. (Seems to be the more popular format these days anyway – half seasons are a blessing and a curse)
I would be happy with 1 season to give us what we want without flogging the concept to death.
p.s i’m going to tweet this to alert all my gamer followers
i think this could be a really interesting tv series or movie. then again it just has to be done right and keep that fallout feel to it. in other words it couldn’t be below and R if it was a movie, or on any family networks if it was a series:)
This could be a epic win, if it is done by a great production
Before they do a movie maybe they should first try graphic novel or novel first just to get strong ideas realized first. DOOM was a awesome game with an awesome plot too, but look how it turned out. Haven’t heard from DOOM since, either
And if we don’t like the ending of the movie, they can just change it.
well, i think a tv show could go alot further than a movie. Because look at how long the game took to beat. FOREVER! and thats what was exciting about it. to make it a show like, oz or the sopranos format, meaning as long as the seasons went on, it took in alot of reviews and publicity and money! you could definitely start it with the conflicts happeing and the world how it was before the bombs fell, all the way up to the end when you die. but change the ending a bit, make it a total three sixty from the game, follow the stroy line but a total different ending. because i just watched mad max the other day and fallout follows alot of that as does waterworld, names for people, like smokers(raiders), drifters, wastelander, outcast, all those follow fallout 3. keep the names from the game the same, thats what would make it a good one. but as for the main character, who would play it and what would the name be? would it be a male or female part? shaggy look or cleancut? theres alot to take into consideration people! lol. but to conclude this, i hope they make it something because i'll tell yea, ima be the biggest fan!
Fallout movie would be great, but it'd have to be modeled after the first Fallout, which was the best.
There is a movie coming out with Denzel Washington: The Book of Eli. Look it up.
