David Slade is Officially attached to direct The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Do I dare post anymore Twilight news? After posting the picture of the Wolf Pack in the upcoming New Moon movie a few of the ladies got brutal with each other.
Real quick The third film in The Twilight Saga ‘Eclipse’ officially got a director attached to it today. The director name is David Slade. He has done a couple hard core rated ‘R’ movies such as ‘Hard Candy’ and ‘30 Days of Night’ which is a little more blood splashy violent vampire film. I guess he is looking at lightening things up. He is a pretty good director so Twilight fans should be happy.
‘New Moon’ is currently filming and will be released on November 20th and brings back Robert Pattinson as Edward, Kristen Stewart as Bella and Taylor Lautner as Jacob. ’Eclipse’ is set to be released June 30, 2010. And it was recently announced at a fourth Twilight film will be developed.

Any info regarding why they are changing directors again?
Because the quality of the product is so poor! The books aren’t good, just marketable. The movies are even worse–but again, trying to be marketable. So they’re cutting costs, cutting corners, trying to maximize profits, assuming that the target audience (tweens and young teens) isn’t smart enough to notice how bad it is, and is simply dazzled by the sparkly stuff and how ostensibly attractive they’ve been told to think the leads are.
It’s just economics.
These movies, and even these books, like most movies (and books) aimed at that demographic are created and produced under the same principles that got Kelly Clarkson a record contract. A modicum of talent, but nothing to write home about– and a whole lot of packaging. The industry is McDonald’s, not a private chef making something delectable to satisfy your palate. You’re getting mediocrity because you’re paying for mediocrity, and have been paying for mediocrity for years– and because the industry assumes children are really, really stupid or really, really gullible.
Ask anyone 25 years of age if they still listen to the same bands they did when they were 13. Ask them if they’re embarassed at the New Kids on the Block bedsheets they had at the time, and then, more importantly, ask them why they were into such crap at the time. Hint: It’s not cos it’s good, it’s because the industry is right about kids, and savvy folks like the boring hacks behind the Twilight mess realize that the less you put into the intrinsics of an easily marketable product, the more profit you stand to make, both realized and implied.
Congrats, Twilight fans. You’re just another example of why the entertainment industry is so terrible.
I’d rather hear about what’s growing between Venkman’s toes than this dribble.
As a Twilight fan, I’d like to say that the group of people I know who like the books and movie are not the “target audience” at all. We are married women between the ages of 24 and 58 who enjoyed a series of books that were easy reading that could just take us into a fun story for a little while. Isn’t that the point of the entertainment industry? To make us feel a part of something bigger than ourselves? Why does everyone have to be so critical of a book and movie series that has made so many people so happy?
They are having different directors because they’d like each movie to have it’s own feel. Just like they’ve done with Harry Potter.
And btw, I am 25 this year, and I still listen to exactly the same music as I did when I was 13. Led Zeppelin, Depeche Mode, Dave Matthews, U2, and of course lots of bands that have come out since then. So stop being ignorant and thinking you know everything about everyone who is supposedly the audience you are talking crap about.
And seriously, don’t be mean to me just cos i’m fat and am trying to live vicariously in a latter-day childhood. Also my taste in music is really bad.
princess, you are awesome.
David Slade? that is so rad! i’m excited to see what he will do with the movie. hopefully he keeps the same cinematographer he used in Hard Candy
I don't think anyone was particularly "dazzled" by the special effects in Twilight. I really can't believe they didn't add a single sparkle to the vampire skin. not a shimmer, not a shine, not even a decent diffuse glow. One of the more original parts of the series was the vampires reason for staying out of the light. I hope the budget and FX team can give us a visually intense fountain scene in this next one.
Why don't they stick with the same director?
It is getting a bit tiresome of musical director chairs. I had hoped they would stick with Chris. But, unlike some of you I enjoy the books and no am not teen, tween or 20 something, well you get the idea. Let's just say I love to read and dissect and think and I lost my love in a horrific car accident 2 years ago and saw it coming and could do nothing about it. THINK that is why this particular story grabbed me so much. Knew it was going to happen and even the time it happened and was powerless to do a darn thing except curl up and withdraw from life till about 3 weeks ago when I was shown the book then movie. God bless my granddaughter. She said you need this. I did.
