I had hoped they would stick with Chris. But, unlike some of you I enjoy the books and no am not teen,tween or 20 something,well you get the idea. Let's just say I love to read and dissect and think and I lost my love in a horrific car accident 2 years ago and saw it coming and could do nothing about it. THINK that is why this particular story grabbed me so much. Knew it was going to happen and even the time it happened and was powerless to do a darn thing except curl up and withdraw from life till about 3 weeks ago when I was shown the book then movie. I really can't believe they didn't add a single sparkle to the vampire skin. not a shimmer, not a shine, not even a decent diffuse glow. One of the more original parts of the series was the vampires reason for staying out of the light. I hope the budget and FX team can give us a visually intense fountain scene in this next one. We are married women between the ages of 24 and 58 who enjoyed a series of books that were easy reading that could just take us into a fun story for a little while. Isn't that the point of the entertainment industry? To make us feel a part of something bigger than ourselves? Why does everyone have to be so critical of a book and movie series that has made so many people so happy? They are having different directors because they'd like each movie to have it's own feel. Just like they've done with Harry Potter. And btw, I am 25 this year, and I still listen to exactly the same music as I did when I was 13. Led Zeppelin, Depeche Mode, Dave Matthews, U2, and of course lots of bands that have come out since then. So stop being ignorant and thinking you know everything about everyone who is supposedly the audience you are talking crap about. A modicum of talent, but nothing to write home about-- and a whole lot of packaging. The industry is McDonald's, not a private chef making something delectable to satisfy your palate. You're getting mediocrity because you're paying for mediocrity, and have been paying for mediocrity for years-- and because the industry assumes children are really, really stupid or really, really gullible. Ask anyone 25 years of age if they still listen to the same bands they did when they were 13. Ask them if they're embarassed at the New Kids on the Block bedsheets they had at the time, and then, more importantly, ask them why they were into such crap at the time. Hint: It's not cos it's good, it's because the industry is right about kids, and savvy folks like the boring hacks behind the Twilight mess realize that the less you put into the intrinsics of an easily marketable product, the more profit you stand to make, both realized and implied.
