How Pixar Pitched TOY STORY 3 to Tom Hanks
It was really interesting to find out how Pixar pitched ‘Toy Story 3′ to Tom Hanks. Usually you send the script to them and they read it and decide what they want to do based on that. Nope, not this time. Tom Hanks says that he Tim Allen and John Ratzenberger sat in a screening theater and watched the whole Toy Story 3 movie. How cool would that be!? Here is what he tells us:
“They showed us a complete story reel of the entire movie, with storyboards moving from one to the next, and the people up at Pixar recorded some voices with some music and sound effects. Tim Allen and John Ratzenberger and I went in a movie theatre, watched the reel and said, ‘This is great, let’s get to work!’”
I think it would be pretty cool to see something like that. I’m surprised they haven’t included these types of things in their DVD special features. They should. Tom Hanks also reveals that since that movie screening he has already done three complete recording sessions and will most likely will do at least one more.I am excited to see what Pixar is doing with ‘Toy Story 3′.
Hanks also gives a little update on his new WWII HBO mini series ‘The Pacific’.
“That’s having its score finalized. I think it’s going to be March 2010. We are able to visit the home front on this one and we’re able to show the guys before the War and after. We show some of the most vicious stuff I’ve ever seen on film – because it has to be.”
Wow. This is a series I am really looking forward to watching. Band of Brother is one of the greatest mini-series of all time and I am sure this is going to be just as good if not better.

Actually, the Incredibles DVD has something like that in the extras (I think it’s on Disk 2) for the deleted/not-included scenes.
It definitely wouldn’t be Toy Story without Tom Hanks. I can’t wait to see how it develops-already caught the first two, so I might as well polish it off.
