Robert Rodriguez Confirms PREDATOR Reboot
We reported a rumor earlier this year that Robert Rodriguez was going to reboot the Predator franchise. Now it looks like this rumor has been confirmed as being true by Rodriguez himself. Now before you start throwing food at your computer screen in contempt of this reboot. The Predator is a character creature that could use a decent movie. I love the original film! But I didn’t really care for the ‘Aliens Vs. Predator’ flicks I thought they were just a waste of some great creatures to work with. In my opinion ‘Predator’ could use a good movie since I haven’t seen one since the original. Part 2 was OK. There are several stories to tell about these aliens so I don’t see this as a remake at all.
Robert Rodriguez announced at a press conference today in Texas that revolved around the reform of the Texas film incentive program that…
“I’m going to be able to shoot my upcoming Machete here, a sci-fi action film called Nervewrackers, a re-boot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons.”
The movie will be called ‘Predators’ so I assume it will involve more than one Predator. The movie will unfortunately be done at 20th Century FOX and this was the original rumored pitch for the film:
“a team of commandos face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.”
So there’s that. He also confirmed ‘Sin City 2′ and ‘The Jetsons’. Oh, I hope that he doesn’t make a Jetsons movie that looks like all his other bad looking kid films.
So hit me with it, what do you think about a Predator reboot?

If it’s anything like ‘Planet Terror,’ I’m down. I am also happy to hear ‘Machete’ will become a reality! Viva Trejo!
Predator vs Trejo? Aye carumba!
Personally I think with what they have done with the AVP series you can kinda go back and tell more back story. That was the whole thing we were missing, I mean why is some predatory alien coming to our planet to kill us?
Bridge the stories more and kinda make them a little more visceral and intrigueing. Give us more indepth info on the predator species. So I don’t think the reboot is a bad idea, and hell if he does a good enough job then I hope they also reboot aliens and start telling more of the story they introduced in AVP:requiem. I mean Predator obviously started way back when, but as far as our introduction to the aliens that is supposed to be from some time in the far off future. Now yes in the first AVP movie they tried to create the initial tie in but it was kinda clumsey.
Restart both series, use the predator series to open the impetus for the search for the alien pods and maybe bring some of the cartoon alternate story ideas in. Both the aliens and the predators are good characters, villians/anti heros. Especially if we get more in depth on their samurai like honor system. Think about it if you either fight with or kill a predator you get to keep your life. Why, I thought we were prey, if a boar kills your buddy you still go out and kill the boar. Give us more into their mindset if done right this movie could be kick ass, and the reboot of both and then the vs stories could become huge classics.
I loved Predator 1 & 2. I thought they were great films. I am all about a predator 3. I just hope they don’t use the Predator costume designs, art department or any of the crew from the AVP flicks.
so wtf? he’s doing all these films.. how long till either of them come out?
machete in 2010, sin city 1012, jetsons 2014, nervewreckers 2016 etc…
I thought you were reporting a remake of the original, thankfully I am wrong because that film is untouchable, perfectly paced action and there is no need to do anything over with it.
The good news…Rodriguez can only do better after AVP, AVP2(although I find it very difficult to believe it will even be comparable to the original).
The Bad news…as of late 2oth Century is known for turnig features with potential into poop. ie Wolverine.
