Christian Bale joins Mark Wahlberg in PRISONERS
Now this is a match up I never thought I would see. Christian Bale in a movie starring along side Mark Wahlberg. According to The Hollywood Repoter’s Risky Busines Blog, Christian Bale has attached himself to a film project called Prisoners. Apparently Prisoners is one of the hottest scripts in Hollywood right now. Mark Wahlberg has been on the project from the beginning and Bryan Singer has said that he want’s to direct the film, but he is not officially attached. And neither is Christian bale for that matter. For all I know this could be one big rumor.
So what is the story of this edgy impressive script everyone is talking about?
After his 6-year-old daughter and her friend are kidnapped, a small-town carpenter butts heads with a young, brash detective in charge of the investigation. The father is a Bible-reading, deer-hunting survivalist. The cop, meanwhile, can’t wait to get to the city. Feeling failed by the law, the father captures the man he believes responsible and begins to torture him in a desperate attempt to find out what he did with the girls, whom he’s convinced are still alive.
That’s the basic setup. There’s a lot more there, but we won’t spoil it except to say the two leads have great arcs and the supporting players, especially the mothers, have juicy parts. The script is dark — Disney ain’t touchin’ this one — and a real page-turner.
So there you have it folks. This could end up being a good movie if Wahlberg can get his act together. The guy did a great job in The Departed but was horrific in ‘The Happening’ and ‘Max Payne’. Maybe his acting abilities all come down to who directs him. Not sure what singer can do with him if he takes it. Christian bale on the other hand just has a natural talent. So what do you think about this new movie/

Not sure about Wahlberg, but Bale couldn’t help but be great in something like this. Hope he stays with it!
I'm not sure if this is right for Bale. It depends how juicy of a role it will be. I heard a rumor that he is going to play the cop which is only a supporting character. I think he is a little too big for that. Also he seems to be playing that brooding authoritative character a lot these days. From vigilantes to soldiers to cops. I think it's time he takes a part that allows him to stretch his wings a bit more. We all know that he is massively talented. Yet the parts he has taken lately I don't think are very challenging for him. If I was his agent I would definitely try to guide him towards more character driven pieces. He should be offered more variety in his parts. Especially before coming back for Batman 3.
