Gambit to get his own Spin-Off movie?

It looks like one of our favorite X-Men characters may get his own spin-off movie after all. I was more excited about the Deadpool spin-off until I saw how FOX screwed up the character. I hope they are able to pull the original Deadpool character back at the end, if not I’ll be even more pissed. Anyway back to the Gambit and his spin-off movie! It sounds like it is a possibility. I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to do it, he’s such a great character. And he looks like he is going to steal the show in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’.
Producer Lauren Shuler Donner who has been involved with all of the X-men films has said that Gambit is one of her favorite characters. She also said that we would not see him in the ‘X-Men: First Class’ movie being developed because he wasn’t a part of Xavier’s school of mutants. But we might end up seeing him in his own spin-off film. She talks about how the idea is currently being thrown around in “internal discussions”, and that “They are going to figure all that out”.
I hope this all works out. Did I mention how awesome it would if Gambit got his own movie? I am more excited for that movie than I am for Wolverine and its just an idea for now. Donner also adds that they would love to have Bryan Singer to come back to direct. She says:
“Nothing would please me more than to bring Bryan [Singer] on for another movie. And, if it’s like the first Deadpool or the first Gambit, I think, I mean, I hope he would be interested…”
That would be cool, but I seriously doubt he would want to come back after what happened with X-Men 3. But, never say never. So would you like to see a Gambit movie directed by Bryan Singer?

I would love to see a gambit movie done by a good team. If they do, I hope they add Rogue. The Gambit Rogue dynamic was always really interesting. And it would be cool if they were to bring Anaa Paquin back for that.
Bryan Singer could do a good Gambit movie but I actually wouldn’t mind seeing someone else give it a shot…as long as they tell the story well.
Gambit is a shitty character. He is probably the single most hated X=men character amongst hardcore comics readers, but I don’t really care if they make a movie about him.
I doubt it will have great funding thought.
I just wish Marvel would get back the movie rights to the X-men and Spider-man franchises and start turning out quality movies in continuity like the whole Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Avengers initiatives.
Gambit is one of those characters who seems like he’s really only there to get the chicks interested in reading comics. I personally love him but there are definitely much better characters in the Marvel U to base movies on. A Deadpool movie would have ben awesome if Fox hadn’t screwed up his character so much.
I agree with No. Marvel should get the rights back and make a decent X-Men movie. I thought they all sucked. The first movie was one of the worst movies, not even comic movies, but just any movie, I’ve ever seen. Two was better, compared to the first one. Three blew.
I am way more excited about the prospect of a Magneto movie than Deadpool or Gambit.
YES yes and yes. He is just so talented and I could not believe he was not doin the 3rd one.It was a greart movie but you could tell the difference.It would be have awesome if Bryan Singer directed this new 1(X-men:oV).
I would love 2 see a Magneto,Gambit,Mystique,Colossus or Mister Sinister movie.
I’m so excited about X-Men Origins. If ‘They’ do make a spin off 4 Gambit.Rogue(Anaa Paquin)has 2 be in it. They had a great romance in the Animated series from the 90’s.(Watched it after school)I feel so old!!
Gambit’s always been one of my favorites, but I’m not sure he’s strong enough to carry his own movie. He’s a great character (IMO), but he’s not necessarily headline material.
I’ve seen the film and he’s cool, and theres some good story about him mentioned in the film so his own film would rock

Hey Blech and No, I wish I knew when or if Marvel will get the rights back to the X-Men characters. Fox is making all of these plans so I don’t think it will be anytime soon which sucks.
Gambit never bothered me as much as some folk. Although I stopped following his story mid-90s and never looked back.
If Marvel Studios did a Gambit story, I’d be more than interested.

For anyone saying that gambit is a “shitty character” or that he “isn’t strong enough to carry his own film”, READ YOUR MARVEL HISTORY.
Gambit has more backstory that cyclops and jean grey put together. He’s involved with Mr. Sinister, Rouge, Wolverine, Cable, Bishop, Deadpool, the entire marauders guild-clan thingy, apocalypse, magneto.
He’s a stunning character who, if you take the time to research, is one of my most beloved characters in the entire series. AND has such an intricate back story, he could have a saga of about 23 movies, and still not be boring.

i’d love to see a gambit solo, but i find it highly doubtful. after seeing what they’ve done to him in origins, i feel like it would be a complete fan fare without staying true to the fans. like, how hard is it to pull off a cajun accent when that is one of your character’s major attributes? besides, i’ve been waiting since the first one for him, with the expectation that there’d be some major rogue/gambit/iceman conflict going on, but thanks to origins that’s pretty much impossible or there’d be some really creepy age difference going on.

They definetly should do a Gambit movie. I don’t care if the comic book readers don’t want to see it. All they do is complain how the X-men series doesn’t follow the comic book anyways so who cares. His character would need a supporting cast like in the origins of Wolverine where the acting was very good. But there is no question that Gambit should get his own spinoff.
He is a fan favorite and guess what? Fans are who pay to see the movie! Give the people what they want!
Wolverine was easily put on a pedastal for the mainstream super hero genre. However, those of us who actually read comic books and have been doing so for years understand that he isn’t nearly as interesting as many other heroes (and villains for that matter).
Gambit has a perfect supporting role but I don’t ever see a movie revolving solely around him being successful enough to be seriously considered.
I’m not saying he is by any means boring or simple or that his backstory is not complex enough. But Gambit was never designed to really go it alone, what makes him so interesting is the way he coexists with other faces.
A perfect example would have been the snarky relationship he shared with Rogue (unfortuneately, this has been ruined due to the three X-Men movies already created.)
He’s always been a wonderful character and easily likeable, but if you really sit down and think about it, his charisma comes from his interactions with other major faces in the marvel universe.
So in the end? I’d vote a strong supporting role but never his own.
As far as fan favorites go and all that…this is one of the main reasons why much of the storyline has been misconstrued in the movies.
It can be very difficult translating comic stories to movies, because in order for you to really get a lot out of a movie, you have to be entertained. This can be very, very expensive therefore you have to create a story (not always the original story from the comics) that will attract not only your regular fanbase, but the majority of the other people out there.
Suffice it to say, comic book fans are -not- by any means the majority, therefore in the interest of not going bankrupt, they have to attract a wider audience besides the hardcore fans.
In the long run though, I’d say most of the super hero movies made are sufficient to atleast satisfy all my entertainment needs.
They could have done a lot of things differently, but overall it’s not so bad.
In the end, regardless of how much you may hate or love a super hero movie, you will go pay to see it because alongside our love for -watching- these movies, we love to -talk- about them too.
I saw X-Men Origins:Wolverine,& I loved it. But if you think about it the
X-movies have slightly moved away from the lives of the comic books characters.4 example (X-men,x2,x3)Rogue & Bobby r in love. Then Kitty falls 4 Bobby. In the comics Kitty loves Colossus & Rogue loves Gambit. Also the Phoenix story was off & Strom lost her accent.
The writers move things around & they play with the story lines,but all in all the movies have stayed true 2 the personalities of the X-Men. There (R) same thyings that I think should have stayed the same-1.the love stories(R/G- K/C-S/BP)2.Emma Frost and Victor Creed were not the related 2:Sliver Fox & Wolverine. I would also like 2 c Storm & Rogue 2 b tough & sweet women as they r in the books. These r only things I would have kept the same as the comics. Anyway I’m a big fan of
X Men and If that name is attached–I’m there :]
Gambit is the bomb, his cool and my favourite x-men.a gambit movie would rock.and try to find a way to bring him closer to prof x.
i agree with what some of the other ppl are saying. gambit's cool but i dont think he's star-material; to have his own movie. they're just going to screw it up and all thoz dumb fangirls are going to be swooning over gambit now. so annoying.
gambit is one of my favorite characters but if ppl start obsessing over him after his own movie, i'm gonna have to change my faves. which will suck..i hope they get a better guy to play gambit and i hope they get a sexier rogue (if they will even HAVE rogue in the movie, they screw everything up!).

I am happy that there are more and more movies based on comics–I have no complaints when they want to make even more. Gambit is one of my favorite X-men and I have been a fan of mutants for over 20 years. Who cares if he or any other X-men character could carry the movie. Any movie they make would include enough characters for everyone to enjoy. If you like this genre, you should always support it–only then will movie makers continue making them. Who knows, maybe your favorite character will be next.
A spin off would be amazing, for the little time Gambit actual had on screen in this movie I thought Taylor did a pretty good job. Granted the director will have to be good, because since Brian Singer left the third movie was an epic fail and the Wolverine Movie could have been better, it was good but the plot holes made me cringe as did his claws, CGI is not meant to look like CGI, but I digress. Also because of the timeline it leaves little to no space for a Gambit/Rogue romance, of course in the Wolverine movie there was a scene where cryogenic freezing is utilized, so they could play that up, say Gambit was caught cryogenically frozen by one of Stryker's associates and then unfrozen after the happenings of X3?
And to get Iceman out of the story they could say he and Rogue broke up because he wanted Kitty or even that Rogue's powers came back and she killed him by accident, which caused her to turn to Gambit. The large plot holes can easily be fixed if they were to actually try to be creative, yes it would stray from the comics, but certain sacrifices would have to be made if any of the actual plot and character depth from the X Men comics were to be salvaged. They could do an X4 if they wanted to, but they have to play the cards right, and have a good script, and fix the plot holes.
i doubt a Gambit film will be made if it is i doubt Paquin will return if her True Blood show is still on. hell i think Paquin would probaly try to get her bf Sephon Moyer in the role of Gambit so they could kiss and shit. Gambit was dull in x-men Wolverine idc if a Gambit film gets made or not i just don"t see Rogue in it unless they reboot the x-men films or recast Gambit cause Kitchs Gambit would be like old in the x-men films if Paquins Rogue is a young woman. i never thought Rogue loved Bobby in the films i think she secretly loved Wolverine in my view. we will see i guess if Gambit will get a solo film or not.
The only reason i watched the x-men origins:wolverine is because gambit was there and the only reason i like the x-men is because gambit character.Gambit is my most #1 favorite character in marvel comics.I hope fox will make solo films for GAMBIT…
I must agree with what the one guy said. if they wanna make a Gambit solo film, its very possible. i just read up on alot of the characters backstory and they is a TON of stuff he was involved in. and to get the Rogue/Gambit love story going, they could easily write something in to fill in that time gap. I mean Gambit played a fairly large role threw a long time period in the comic series. plus some major events happened when he was involved with the X-Men. i mean Gambit was leader of a branch of the X-Men for awhile.
Not to mention if they are making a series of X-Men:Origins movies, why couldnt they do one for Gambit. I mean his role in the comic book series was almost as large of a role as storms. Another thing to mention is that there are a wide variety of charachters that were brought into the series due to Gambit. Anyone who does not think that they could support a Gambit solo film should go back and read the entire biography of Remy LeBeau (Gambit). that will get you all to see that there are quite a few possibilities for films just for LeBeau
Gambit was my favorite character in the X-Men Uni but they did screw things up alot with the X Movies and I always thought the romance between Rogue/Logan/Bobby was messing with the whole Rogue and Gambit Dynamic I loved so much.
I do wish that they would have gotten a different person to play Him in Origins but I thought the guy did an ok job because I think they could have done alot worse.

Yes they would need to fix things but then again in my mind these movies have always felt more like a "what if" deal or "alt uni" to me because there has been so much that has been off kilter.
Anyway I would love to see a Gambit movie and if anything in a few years they can remake the X-men movies because if they can remake the Hulk from the piece of crap they had from Ang Lee then they can do it for the X-men Movies too.
