A movie about Green Lantern would depend heavily on special effects. The coolest thing about his power is that its limited only by his imagination and his willpower. It wouldn't be fair to the character if his powers were also limited by a small effects budget.

This is for you kiddo.... Chris Pine (Captain James T. Kirk) is tapped to be Hal Jordan (Green Lantern), and other than the script needing to be GREAT, (I've read it, and it's pretty Frakking fantastic!!!) The money for a GL film needs to be spent on VFX NOT Talent. While talent is incredibly important, a great director will do the job of bringing out a stellar performance, but with a property like GL which is chalk filled with Aliens and Powers, you need to make sure those two aspects are treated with the utmost care. After all, those VFX will make or break the film, in this case of course.
