Yes, A Nightmare on Elmstreet remake is currently in pre-production and the filmmakers are currently building up their cast for the film. So far we have the great Jackie Earle Haley playing Freddy Krueger, Kyle Gallner will take on the role of Quentin, and Thomas Dekker will be Jesse. 

Today another name can be added to that list it is reported that actress Rooney Mara is in final negotiations to star as the lead girl in the horror film, Nancy Thompson. Mara is not a well known actress. She has done a few TV shows Like ‘Law & Order’ and ‘ER’ the only movie she has under her belt that sounds familiar is ‘Urban Legends: Bloody Mary’. I actually like that they went with an unknown actress for the role, it will hopefully make things a little more believable. Here is a picture of her.

As pissed as I am about Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, Platinum Dunes, and Michael Bay for remaking this movie, I kind of like the direction that they are taking it. Click Here to read up on the details of the movie. This new version of Elmstreet is being directed by music video director Samuel Bayer. Thre is no point in doing this film if they can’t make it better than the original. The biggest selling point for me on the film is Jackie Earle Haley playing Freddy, if Robert Englund can’t be in it, then Haley would be my next choice. What are your thoughts?
