Sam Raimi will Realize his vision of Peter Parker in SPIDER-MAN 4

As you know Spider-Man 4 is currently being developed and is still in pre-production. Sam Raimi is set to direct and Tobey Maguire is locked and loaded to take on the role of Peter Paker again. From the sound of it ‘Spider-Man 4′ is going back as a character study on the man who is Spider-man… Peter Parker, and Raimi may end up taking the character into a new direction, exploring him in a different light. Raimi explains:
“I hope that we just [look] ever deeper into the truth of who Peter Parker really is — as a human being and the unique character, and that we celebrate that, which is a lot of the reason I want to make this next picture, I still believe I have an understanding of Peter Parker as the character that I have not quite put onto the screen yet.”
I’m all for it! Most super heroes have so many differnt layers to them you could do a full movie on each personality trait. It’s interesting that showing this new side of Peter Parker is one of the main reasons he is making the movie. It is going to play a main part of the story obviously. Rami also tells us about what is going on with whether Kirsten Dunst will come back as Mary Jane in the film. He must have a pretty big place for her in the movie because he is trying to get her back in. He say of the matter:
“I’m hoping that she is going to come aboard, and I’ve got a meeting coming up with her, I think she would like to. But I don’t want to speak on behalf of her.”
Personally I thought she was the weakest link of the movies, but to come back and recast the character at this point is kind of silly. So I am all for her coming back, technically she has made the role of Mary Jane her own. Honest Spider-Man wouldn’t be the same with out her. But who cares what I think, what do you all think?

Honestly I dont think that they should bring Kirsten back. After the first Spider-Man I felt that she wasnt as attractive.
I honestly don’t think Kirsten ever truly captured the character right. But, I agree that to recast her at this point would be kind of dumb. Then again…they did it in Dark knight when they recast the Rachael Dawes character and I felt that Maggie Gyllenhaal was better than Katie Holmes.
I’m just glad you’re keeping track of the Spider-Man movies.

Kirsten should only be brought back if they make her a real red head again. While her performances were all pretty flat, I’ve been informed by my way more comic-book knowledgeable roommate that MJ as a character is pretty flat and boring.
But that strawberry-blond bordering on straight up blond has to go.
I think they should bring back Kirsten, but not have her in the film much, possibly kill off MJ early on, and feature Gwen Stacy more instead.
i think with the last movie they should have had topher grace and bryce dallas howard take over the lead roles. when that movie was coming out toby and kirsten were acting like it was the worst thing that ever happened to them. oh, sorry that you want to do more sophisticated work, but spiderman is the reason ANYONE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE.
I’m torn between wanting to pre-emptively dismiss this movie after being so dismally disappointed at 3 and rooting for it to be the best one yet. I actually always like Kirsten as MJ, but then again I don’t know much about how she is portrayed in the comic….
speaking as a red head and great lover of Spidey (hey I use MJ as my nick on here) it would be a great favour to the world of comic book geeks if Bryce Dallas just tapped Kirsten out of the ring and took over – as odin put it before me.
Topher would have captured Spidey’s wit more – but Tobey is an ok fit. If they kill her off I’m donw with the movie franchise and going back to Ultimates (as Brand New Day fraked up the Amazing story line as much as Spidey 3 did the movies)
If anything – let Raimi have his fun and then do a reboot in 5 years picking up where 2 left off – thats where I want to see this happening. And like Back to the Future – just recast her in the 3rd movie – no one will mind if you do! (and this lady here will give you a standing O should you boot out kirsten who is a lazy actor and oozes boring across the screen within a character that begs for sassy and fun *shes Spidey’s main squeeze for a reason people*)
as you can see I could rant about this for a while so. in closing. Kirsten = the suck.
i did not like kirsten as Mary Jane at all, and I would not mind at all if they recast her character. MJ does not require a big name actress, which is where I think a lot of these super hero movies go wrong. They try to appeal to the main stream audiences by casting these big name stars into roles that they don’t really fit into. All MJ requires is a hottie red head with long legs that can say “see you later, tiger” and send goose bumps up your arms. ’nuff said.
why not have the red head girl from wedding crashers? she doesnt at least look like a goblin
Toby and kirsten need to be cut… Ruined all 3 Spiderman movies for me. Stop making Peter Parker a dork. Read a comic book before making comic based movies.

loved spider-man 1 and 2, hated spider-man 3. we got the license to produce spider-man shoes for 1,2, and 3 guess what 3 had the highest minimum guarantee and royalty rate but the lowest sales among the 3 [for us at least].
i know spidey has a lot of enemies but which big name villain is left for him (i really like venom but they killed him, goblins are dead too, doc ock dead, sandman is alive. wth why is sandman alive!?)? all i can think of right now is lizard [he's the professor of peter right?], kraven the hunter.
I wouldn't mind not having MJ in the movie. But if they must have her don't recast not on the 4th film.
I hope raimi doesn't make peter dance again.
[ot] katie holmes should never have been cast in batman, and while i like christian bale someone should tell him that he makes batman sound alot like a blue monster who happens to like cookies and who happens to reside on sesame street.
SAM RAIMI PLEASE JUST MAKE THESE NEXT 2 MOVIES A LITTLE VIOLENT BECAUSE I DON`T WANT PEOPLE TO THINK IT`S COMPLETELY CHILDISH AND SPIDERMAN IS NOT AN "EXTREME" SUPERHERO(IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) LIKE IRON MAN AND HULK SO PLEASE MAKE IT ALL AGES TO BE VIOLENT ENOUGH AS PG-13 PLSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spiderman lives in a dark world so it has to be just a little dark.
And whatever you`re doing Sam, these are the things i`m hoping you WON`T do.
1.make Peter too cheerful about being a superhero.
2. put any more relationship troubles between Peter and Mj.
3. try too hard to make Peter websling in a form that shows his strength or agility.
4. have Peter`s identity revealed, unless there`s a way for someone else to be posed as the real Spiderman.
5. make Spiderman have a kid, Peter and Mj would be too rushed to move onto a different stage and Spiderman is not that type of superhero.
6. Put in any more love interests for Spiderman, there`s a lot that`s happened that doesn`t stick to the right formula of putting Peter on another level.
7. And most importantly, please for the love of god, DO NOT RESURRECT A DEAD CHARACTER!!!This is a superhero movie you`re making, and bringing back a dead character would make it look like an ancient Myth or a fairy tale. If you want to know the truth of who Peter Parker "really" is, you should know he`s not the type of character who lives in a world where ones who are dead can "magically" come back to life. Just make Harry come back to him as a ghost, ok??. But bringing back a dead character would ruin the franchise.
So just look deep into everything Raimi, and see how what you`re doing will reflect and how it balances the chain of making a real and fit superhero franchise compared to what you`ve subdued in you`re previous films.
