TRON 2 Set Photos

As you know its a holiday weekend and news is going to be pretty slow the rest of the weekend, but I came across two phots from the set of TRON 2 that I thought you might like to see. It’s nothing crazy, but after seeing the footage I saw at comic-con I couldn’t be more excited to see how this movie turns out.

Tron is now currently shooting in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Apparently the action for this film won’t just be taking place in the computer world. People have been seeing them film police cars chasing after a guy who is hanging on top of a taxi. The photo below shows the Encom building and you can see the logo for the company on the building.

This next photo below looks like one of the actors or an extra on the film dressed up in his baby blue Tron spandex costume. I am sure it will look much cooler in the movie when they pimp it out with special effects. They are spending a ton of money on this film somewhere between $240 and $300 million dollars. It all depends on if it is American or Canadian dollars. But this movie will turn out being amazing.

5 Rant-Backs so far

  1. PRIMALDATA on April 11th, 09

I won’t lie I’m mad their making tron 2 instead of a remake of the original tron and then tron 2. I mean think about it, how old is the tron shit now? I mean back then we all didn’t have PC’s at our houses, laptops whats a laptop? The world of tron especially upgraded from the start could be so much better if started today, with todays technology, and then moving forward.

I mean tron could go so far past the discs, or the racing game. Yes when it came out being in true disney fashion the fatastic was romanticized in computer form, but can they ride that lightning again, especially without going ahead and updating all the tech and the story for a more computer literate world and understanding.

Meh I liked the first one and in omage to that I will watch the second one, but this is one of those movies that should have gotten the Star Trek/Batman Begins treatments

  2. Mann is the Man on April 11th, 09

I would have to disagree with your logic PRIMALDATA. With a sequel, the creative team does not have to worry about reintroducing the characters or the world. In fact, Jeff bridges character and a few of the original cast members are coming back. The whole idea of a reboot ala Batman Begins and Casino Royale is due to lackluster sequels in the franchise. The original Tron is a one-off and therefore a reboot would not make sense. A remake runs along those same lines due to the fact that characters played by the same actors are returning. And of course they are going to use today’s technology in the sequel; I can not imagine the new film having the same retro look to it.

Oh and Doc, where in the world did you hear about that enormous budget? That has to be in Canadian dollars; even if those figures are, that is one expensive movie. If it were $300 million US dollars, that would make it the most expensive film ever made.

Hey Mann, the $300 million came from a canadian newspaper so I think it is in Canadian dollars which make more sense. As for the whole reboot of the original Tron, I don’t think so. It makes complete sense that Tron would have to be a sequel. Remaking the original would only ruin the spirit of the story and characters. You have to have the 80’s technology so we can see how far technology has come in the last 25 30 years for the sake of the characters and the sequel. If they remade Jeff Bridges wouldn’t really have a place in it, for that reason alone making a sequel was the right thing to do.

I as a fangirl would have been beyond livid if they had remade the first Tron movie JUST so they could make a sequel, the original is untouchable and i’m so happy that they’re making a sequel to the first without going down the lazy route and just remaking the original. So go them! YAY! I can’t wait to see this!

I think the decision to not remake Tron was a good one, because their really isn’t anything they could change to make the film any better.
I am eagerly awaiting Tron 2,and I am amazed by the rumors of how massive the special effects budget really is.
But,the real reason I MUST see Tron 2 is because my favorite band(Daft Punk) is making the music for it.
