Well if they gotta remake Nightmare on Elmstreet at least it will be with Jackie Earle Haley

I hope anyway. It is being reported by Bloody-Disgusting that Jackie Earl Haley has entered final negotiations to play the iconic horror dream killer Freddy Krueger in the ‘A Nightmare on Elmstreet’ remake. Haley has always been my first choice to take on the role. He just carries that whole creepy factor around with him, and he fits the character perfectly. Latino Review actually broke news that he was on a list of actors they wanted for the role. Now it looks like the news is coming to life.
If you don’t know who Jackie Earl Haley is he played Rorschach in Watchmen, and he did an incredible job. The guy is a great actor, and I am really interested to see what he will bring to the character of Freddy Krueger. Haley being cast as Freddy in the film is the only reason for me to see this movie.
Expect an official announcement to hit next week.

Mixed feelings, I mean robert englund is freddie krueger, no question no if ands or buts about it. Haley was great as rorshach and you kinda have to have some of the same pathos to play krueger, but I mean can he deliver the one liners. Rorshach was more of a straight character Freddy while he starts off serious he became beloved when he was more of the wise cracking antogonist.
I dunno I like the freddie from the last few movies, it kinda man him more evil when he was so casual about killing you and how he took you out. Especially the one where he had that comic book fan kid and he killed him I think it was dream warriors not sure. That entire exchange was what made englund so great as krueger

If we have to have a remake, having this guy as Freddy could actually make it worth it.

This is unequivocally FANTASTIC news. Haley is simply one of the best actors out there and PERFECT for a serious re-imagining of Krueger. Englund was great (and presented us with a horrific, sometimes camp villain in Freddie), but Haley needs a chance to give a brand new swing at the character.
I’d love to see this produced as a SERIOUS horror film. Now we need a damned good script and director as well. Haley’s got gravitas, and hopefully he’ll attract similar gravitas to this project.
Ok this is an outstanding idea!! really smart thinking i honestly cant think of any1 else today that could do this. He stole the audience in WATCHMEN and now this. maybe this will turn out to b alright JUST AS LONG AS THEY DONT CAST SOMEONE LIKE VANESSA HUDGENS IN IT!!!
