G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA Official Full Movie Trailer

Ok Gang, here is the New Full trailer for the up coming Stephen Sommers’ film ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’. Earlier this week we posted the French trailer, and this one is not much different. I wish I could be more excited for this movie. I am one of the biggest G.I. Joe geeks on the planet and it sucks that my excitement level for movie is running on empty. Sure! The movie looks incredibly action packed and it is going to be a great summer popcorn flick that I am going to see, but it in no way represents the G.I. Joe characters that we all know and love. The best things about the movie are Sienna Miller as Baroness and Ray Park as Snake Eyes even though for some reason they put silly looking lips on Snake Eyes mask.  Who knows maybe it will surprise me because my expectations are so low. Check out the New trailer below and let us know what your thoughts are. Am I being too hard on it?

Oh! And one more thing! Those mech suits they are wearing, just look silly too me.

Maybe its just me but I don’t remember them having ‘Mech’ suits in the cartoons.

Meh okay action wise it looks good. Thinking back to the joe’s original mech suits this are at least more um “functional” the original ones had the Aliens look to them huge body frame looking things. But they are kinda silly looking.

As for the lips I think it’s because you know as huge a character as snake eyes is you wanna give him some kinda expression. I mean I’m thinking it was pretty hard before you know he didn’t speak(whether it was ripped out vocal chords, or damaged focal chords I forget that part of his origin story) so I mean other then his stoic nature snake eyes is kinda a hard person to cast or put in a setting. I mean the only difference between snake eyes and blade simply put was that blade talked. And talking even if it is somewhat sophmoric kinda helps people connect with him.

So I guess the best I can say is while it looks good maybe they were just trying to hard because of all the pressure put on them, I mean spidey rocked, transformers rocked, the new batman rocked, fantastic four did pretty good, iron man rocked. If you do well people are talking about you for years but if you do poorly first hulk(because of the 1 hour delay in seeing green), elektra, aeon flux, Daredevil(only because folks tried to make daredevil spiderman I personally think the movie was fine), Superman returns the ridicule can last for years as well as stunt your career(What has singer done since superman returns?)

I wonder if all the 80s reboot movies will have the “Flipping down a street with missiles flying by” shot. The trailer ends with it and it looks just like the same action in Tranformers.

A Wayans brother is in it, I was stoked at the teaser, a little less so now that I saw that. We’ll see…

I don’t understand the need for the freaking “accelerator” suits. If these are the “Best of the Best”, what the hell do they need these lame ass Iron Man wannabe suits.

Its Gi joe. at least e wont se cobra la. or Golobulus.
I think its a good way to bring the original concept to a new generation, and maybe when thet are older they will want to know what the original is like.

Looks good to me. My son and I will definitely be seeing this one. :)

I have just seen the trailer and know very little about the movie but all this complaining about these suits ? they look very much like what the USA military has a program in development. I saw this a while back on the military Chanel and if i remember correctly the suit will come in stages and the first stage is almost here… change camo patterns to suit the environment.. extra muscle built into suit to make you stronger and faster (this is not that far off)…new weapons.. heads up weapon display like a fighter airplane in helmet…bullet proof..self contain environment ( air – temperature control-(biological containment)plus other top secret stuff.. not scince fiction,, in development now !!! I can’t wait to see this movie….

I bet that the main reason for the ‘mech’ suits was so that Hasbro can sell two action figures for each character.

  12. Miller on May 5th, 09

I really don’t see this movie being very good.

  13. Renjin on May 5th, 09

They had suits in Sigma 6 but that’s about it.

“powersuits”?!? i don’t remember that in the original. i was hoping this would be a decent live action movie :*(

I'm old … when I was 12 years old – 24 years ago, my buddies and I were "all about" Yo! Joe! battle cry of GI Joe (in the TV show), comic books, but especially the actions figures … < Not dolls, mind you – Actions Figures! >.
I was recently moderately disappointed with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and expect to be equally if not more disappointed with GI JOE the movie for many of the same reasons.
Changing the flick to satisfy the younger kids … well … I guess it makes sense since the filmmakers need to make a return on their investment & that only happens if the kids can generally understand who, what, when, where why & how this team is supposed to function.
But since I'm old … I really like it when franchise genré films pay homage to Fanboys & girls.
I remember reading the comic that showed Snake Eyes basically getting his face "lips included" blown off and why he & his bro were always fighting …
Oh well … I suppose they'll still get my $7.25

Is crappy cgi the new thing nowadays? first Wolverine now this. Come on! This movie looks like ish! The G.I. Joe portion of my childhood is ruined. At least, I still have My Little Pony.

If Abrans or Cameron's names were in the credits, this would be a completely different movie, a good movie. I am sorry, but if even the elite military needs to strap into wanna be iron man suits, we are in trouble. There is a better, more realistic, movie that can be made. This is not it. Just because you are a big budget action flick, you should strive to be more, like a Dark Knight or an Iron Man. Both of those movies work because they set themselves in a realistic frame and expanded from there. From this trailer G.I. Joe decide no one will take it seriously, so they opted to go stupid, rather than smart. Also, in seeing what they have done to Cobra Commander, visually, is moronic. Cobra Commander has such a simple iconic look, and they found a way to over design it to teh point that it looks like a space alien. Now I know this is based on cartoon (although there has been really well wriiten comics books as well), and shouldnt expect the material to be treated better, but it can be.

In the following series called G.i.joe Sigma 6, the guys have a mechanic suit.
