If Abrans or Cameron's names were in the credits, this would be a completely different movie, a good movie. I am sorry, but if even the elite military needs to strap into wanna be iron man suits, we are in trouble. There is a better, more realistic, movie that can be made. This is not it. Just because you are a big budget action flick, you should strive to be more, like a Dark Knight or an Iron Man. Both of those movies work because they set themselves in a realistic frame and expanded from there. From this trailer G.I. Joe decide no one will take it seriously, so they opted to go stupid, rather than smart. Also, in seeing what they have done to Cobra Commander, visually, is moronic. Cobra Commander has such a simple iconic look, and they found a way to over design it to teh point that it looks like a space alien. Now I know this is based on cartoon (although there has been really well wriiten comics books as well), and shouldnt expect the material to be treated better, but it can be.

I'm old ... when I was 12 years old - 24 years ago, my buddies and I were "all about" Yo! Joe! battle cry of GI Joe (in the TV show), comic books, but especially the actions figures ... < Not dolls, mind you - Actions Figures! >.
I was recently moderately disappointed with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and expect to be equally if not more disappointed with GI JOE the movie for many of the same reasons.
Changing the flick to satisfy the younger kids ... well ... I guess it makes sense since the filmmakers need to make a return on their investment & that only happens if the kids can generally understand who, what, when, where why & how this team is supposed to function.
But since I'm old ... I really like it when franchise genré films pay homage to Fanboys & girls.
I remember reading the comic that showed Snake Eyes basically getting his face "lips included" blown off and why he & his bro were always fighting ...
Oh well ... I suppose they'll still get my $7.25

I bet that the main reason for the 'mech' suits was so that Hasbro can sell two action figures for each character.

I have just seen the trailer and know very little about the movie but all this complaining about these suits ? they look very much like what the USA military has a program in development. I saw this a while back on the military Chanel and if i remember correctly the suit will come in stages and the first stage is almost here... change camo patterns to suit the environment.. extra muscle built into suit to make you stronger and faster (this is not that far off)...new weapons.. heads up weapon display like a fighter airplane in helmet...bullet proof..self contain environment ( air - temperature control-(biological containment)plus other top secret stuff.. not scince fiction,, in development now !!! I can't wait to see this movie....

Its Gi joe. at least e wont se cobra la. or Golobulus.
I think its a good way to bring the original concept to a new generation, and maybe when thet are older they will want to know what the original is like.

I don't understand the need for the freaking "accelerator" suits. If these are the "Best of the Best", what the hell do they need these lame ass Iron Man wannabe suits.

I wonder if all the 80s reboot movies will have the "Flipping down a street with missiles flying by" shot. The trailer ends with it and it looks just like the same action in Tranformers.
