THE ROAD Finally Gets a Release Date

Well it’s about damn time! Dimension Films and 2929 Production have officially announced that John Hillcoat’s movie adaptation of Cormac McCarthy novel ‘The Road’ will be released on October 16th 2009.

‘The Road’ was supposed to be released in 2008 during the Oscar season but that didn’t happen. It was delayed due to visual effects problems. I think the reason they held off on the release date for so long was because they wanted to get it back in the Oscar season slot. October will be a good month for it. I’m just happy that it has a release date and that we will finally get to see it this year.

Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen, Academy Award winners Robert Duvall and Charlize Theron,Guy Pearce and 12-year-old Kodi Smit McPhee star in the the story of a man (Mortensen) and his young son (Smit-McPhee) traveling through a desperate, post-apocalyptic world.

I’m reading the book right now and I really hope they did a good job adapting it to a movie.
