Incredibly Bad-ass Martial Arts Film Trailer for MERANTAU
If you like bad-ass martial arts films then this is a trailer you have to watch! The film this trailer is for is called ‘Marantau’ and it is an Indonesian martial arts film. You don’t see many of those around these days. The movie reminds me of the greatness that is Onk Bak and it looks like it could be right up there along with it, but Ong Bak seemed like the martial arts was a little bit more fluent, faster, and more natural. But still this new martial arts film looks like it will be a ton of fun, with some great fight scenes.
Official Plot Synopsis:
In Minangkabau, West Sumatera, Yuda a skilled practitioner of Silat Harimau is in the final preparations to begin his “Merantau” a century’s old rites-of-passage to be carried out by the community’s young men that will see him leave the comforts of his idyllic farming village and make a name for himself in the bustling city of Jakarta. After a series of setbacks leave Yuda homeless and uncertain about his new future, a chance encounter results in him defending the orphaned Astri from becoming the latest victim of a European human trafficking ring led by the wildly psychotic, Ratger and his right-hand man Luc. With Ratger injured in the melee and seeking both his “merchandise” and bloody retribution, Yuda’s introduction to the city is a baptism of fire as he is forced to go on the run with Astri and her younger brother Adit as all the pimps and gangsters that inhabit the night hound the streets chasing their every step. With escape seemingly beyond their grasp, Yuda has no choice but to face his attackers in an adrenaline charged, jaw-dropping finale.

WTF!
Ong Bak is bay far the best martial arts film since Enter the Dragon. The fight scenes were unbelievable and it was “all” Tony in them.
The chest pole at the end was cool, but the scenes still looked a bit choreographed.
Ack! Looks a bit lethargic really…certainly nothing new with regards to Ong Bak etc. I understand it’s a big deal cos it’s a Indonesian action film and the first for many, many, many years…but let that not distract us.
But, I will still watch it – after all, it would be daft to base an opinion purely on the trailer and if they have done it right then what’s in the trailer will be the tip of the iceberg…
All that aside, I’m still waiting for the Xin Xin Xiong directed ‘Coweb’ which will tear it up!!
this looks pretty sweet id see it
meh.tom yum goong if far better.
the last scene sealed the deal for me. I'm definitely gonna catch this one.
