Simon Pegg fills us in on some ‘PAUL’ Movie Details.

The next film that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are going to bring us is a movie simply called ‘Paul’. These two guys have made us laugh ill, our guts spilled out in both ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’. I am really excited to see this next movie.  Simon Pegg recently talked about this new comedy and gives out some details.

The film is a story of two comic-book geek, fanboy types, who go to Comic Con. It’s their trip of a lifetime across the United States. They’re going to go to Comic Con, they’re going to visit some geeky spots where they want to go. And when they visit Area 51 they happen upon an alien, who’s out there, and he enlists them to help him get to a point where they need to meet his pickup ship. So these two guys end up getting involved in the craziest adventure you could imagine, and so it’s basically myself, Nick [Frost] and Paul.

I love the idea, the film appeals to geeks all over the world. I have 100% confidence in these guys to bring us possibly their best movie yet, which is also being directed by Greg Mottola who also made ‘Superbad’. Here are some more little details about the movie.

  • Paul the Alien will be a mixture of practical effects and CG animation.
  • The film is set to begin shooting in Sante Fe, NM around June 8th.
  • The film shoot will take about 10 weeks.
  • They may not shoot at the actual Comic-Con this year because its not easy to film there.
  • The script has been worked on for years, since their initial pitch in a offhand way, to the producer of Shaun of the Dead.
  • The script for Paul is Pegg’s proudest of his career

That’s saying a lot. Is this a movie that appeals to you? Anyone going to Comic-Con this year!?

I'm so glad these guys are bringing us something new. We loved Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and Simon Pegg can pretty much do no wrong when it comes to comedy. So, woo hoo for us! My hubby McMurphy will be at Comic-con with you of course, Venkman, and if Sunny can hang, then she and I might come down for a day. We shall see!!

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are awesome together. Shaun of the Dead and Hott Fuzz are incredible and I still want to see Run, Fatboy, Run and How to lose friends and alienate people.

Yeah Simon and Nick are great – you should, if you ain't yet, try and track down a UK series called Spaced (there are clips on Youtube), it's written by Pegg (and others) and has Nick in it.
Steer clear of Run, Fatboy, Run – it's lame!

Looking forward to Simon's next movie, "Paul". Hopefully Simon won't be using an American accent. He just doesn't seem as funny without that thick UK voice.
