Film Footage from Disney’s PRINCE OF PERSIA: SANDS Of TIME

Hey Gang! We have our first look at film footage from Disney’s big screen adaptation of ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ which is based off of the popular video game. The movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Mike Newell. All of the production photos of the film looked kind of silly to me. This footage doesn’t look too different. I’m not really impressed with what I am seeing here. Jake Gyllenhaal just looks so out of place in this world.

Set in medieval Persia, the story of an adventurous prince Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) who teams up with a rival princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Which is why after the prince was tricked by a dying Vizier to unleash the Sands of Time that turns out to destroy a kingdom and transforms its populace into ferocious demons. In his effort to save his own kingdom and redeem his fatal mistake, it’s up to the prince and the princess to return the sands to the hourglass by using the Dagger of Time, which also gives him a limited control over the flow of time.

Check out the interview with footage below which aired during a ABC movie special recently. What do you thing about what you see?

Wow, did you guys just take this from slashfilm without even giving them via credit?

I agree about Jake. I was uber excited about this until I saw him… still could be good.

We just had the youtube link e-mailed to us, I had no idea slash film even ran it. I don't have time to check and see what other web-sites are posting what.

Could go either way. Gyllenhall does look a bit out of place, to be sure, but it may turn out okay when all is said and done. It looks like something I might be excited to see.

Good points: Jerry has backed a lot of great quality films and tv series so hopefully his Midas touch will make this good, Newell has directed successful films within the past decade and a half, and the main point is Jordan Mechner, the creator of the sands of time video game, is working with them on the screenplay!
The only really bad point I see is how much Gyllenhall just looks out of place. It's like here's Jake and over there is everyone else in the movie, and Ben Kingsly is in it but I don't expect more of a performance than what he had in Uwe Boll's BloodRayne

im just gonna laugh if he trys an accent, poor Jake wont be taken seriously as a Persian lol.

i think ill laugh if he trys an accent i just cant seem to think of any way he could pull it off and his hair is no help.

I just threw up in my cereal.

I love these games and the moment i head Uwe Boll wasn't making this movie i got excited. The second i heard they hadn't cast someone Persian to play the Prince OF PERSIA (who incidently, is Persian), i decide not to waste my good money at the cinema. This just made it worse.

What were they thinking? There are a lot of sexy ethnic men who could pull this off. But no.
