New Look a Dev Patal as Zuko in THE LAST AIRBENDER

avatar-01-2007-10-28

Last week we showed you a couple photos from the new live-action film adaptation of ‘Avatar: The Last Aibender’. Now thanks to /film we have a new photo of Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel as Zuko. He looks very determined in this new picture.  As you know Zuko has a scar on his left eye in the cartoon, he still has it in the film, but it isn’t as bold as the cartoon version. I’m not sure if fans are going to have a problem with that or not, I don’t think it’s a big deal. I am interested to see how this movie plays out especially with M. Night Shyamalan directing the movie. He seems to have lost his touch. Do you think he will get his mojo back while making ‘The Last Airbender’?

    M. Night Shyamalan!?!?! O_o I have to admit, I've lost my faith in the guy. I hope he doesn't completely ruin this movie! I've been super excited since I heard about it.

This photo actually looks really cool. We'll get a trailer soon, though, and then we'll have a better idea of what Shyamalan has done with it.

Wanna help me find Zuko's scar?

  5. ShaftInferno on May 24th, 09

I can help, but it needs to more gnarly. It should be darker. Plus, his hair should look totally different.

its so sad that Shyamalan got this movie!!
I can almost see it, he will add an "unexpected" ending as he likes to do where a little boy
wakes up and realizes that everything was a dream.

Yes, Shyamalan has fallen off his game in recent years, but I know he loves the material and has buy in from the producers/writers of the series. I for one am hopeful about this adaptation. Don't forget that Shyamalan is excellent directing kids (e.g., SIXTH SENSE) and has the potential for greatness if the material is good (e.g., UNBREAKABLE).

if you ever watched the series,
the twist was already written in.
Watch the episode called "The Firelord And The Avatar"
    in book 3

its not much of a scar…
its more like a black eye.
They should have burned off his eyebrow like the animated character.

    D:
I kind of miss his season one hairstyle. With a full head of hair, how can he have that important symbolic moment of cutting off his ponytail with Iroh?
..and yes, his scar is pathetic. Considering it's what he whines about most of the time, seeing Dev Patel as Zuko moan about that (umm….) "scar" will be laughable.

WHERE'S THE SCAR? that looks like a shiner that will heal in a few days.

…Zuko's pale… Dev Patel is awesome don't get me wrong, but he should be Sokka or some other brown character, Zuko, for sure, should be Asian, and if not, AT LEAST PALE!

I'm kind of happy Dev Patel will be playing Zuko. He's a great actor and even though they aren't doing Zuko's season One hair style and not getting really detailed on that scar I'm sure he will do Zuko's character justice.
