Instead they shoot on 35mm and blow it up to IMAX size using an extensive upconversion process. Not that that necessarily cheapens the whole experience, but more often than not, you're paying extra for no qualitative gain in resolution. But they are still charginf full IMAX prices. So if you want to pay full IMAX prices for only slightly larger screen, more power to you.
