Disney Plans to Remake ‘FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR’

Disney is going to take another one of their old movie properties and turn it into a new movie. the last couple of films we have seen them do this too is ‘Race to Witch Mountain’ and the upcoming ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’. Now they have set their sights on revamping the classic 80’s film ‘Flight of the Navigator’, which was one of my personal favorite sci-fi films as a kid. But here they go again. The original movie tells the story of a 12 year old boy who gets abducted by an alien space craft. He ends up traveling eight years into the future from 1978 to 1986. The only problem is he can’t remember what happened. the evil NASA enters the picture and try to exploit the poor kid.
As much as I loved this movie and wouldn’t mind seeing it again now that it has entered my line of sight after all these years and would much rather watch the version I grew up with instead of this blasted remake. The guy who executive produced the first movie John Hyde has come back on board to do the remake. That doesn’t help the fact that I would much rather have seen a new and original sci-fi film.
Brad Copeland has jumped on the project to write the script. This guy has wrote TV shows such a ‘Grounded for Life’, ‘My Name is Earl’, and ‘Arrested Development’. Yeah, the guy has been involved with some nice TV show sitcoms. The one film he has written was a ‘Wild Hogs’. So you be the judge of how this movie will turn out.
If it ends up being better than the original, which I don’t think will be hard to do then fine that’s great, but what is wrong with a little originality? Personally I don’t think it will be any better than ‘Race to Witch Mountain’.
What will the next remake be? ‘Explorers’?

‘Flight of the Navigator’ Remake sounds like plan….Kid's in this day and time are not very familiar with time traveling we need to inform kids about the responsibility if going in to the future or past what to do and what not to do….We should have like a Back to the future class in school just to get more info on what time travel is…cuz nobody wants Biff as king of the world….so count me in…

LAME!!!! i love this movie as it is, cheesy and all. no need for a remake but of course, thats all disney does nowadays cause theyve run out of ideas.
don't even SAY Explorers when talking about remakes…
all we need is one jackass with a budget saying "yeah, that sounds like a good idea" and then once more segment of my childhood gets shitted on…

I knew Disney had a tonne of money and they do with it with whatever they want but, I didn't think they would start buying crack cocaine and then resort to smoking it at the same time! LOL! This is the most boneheaded concussed cow idea I have heard lately, next to AVATAR by Shyamalan! LOL! They ARE GOING TO FAIL LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Disney is going to remake something it should be The Last Star Fighter. I don't know if they own it or not but the premise of the story is good given a strong script and making it a universal vehicle of sorts. Now that's a good Idea!
I totally agree with Roman, a remake of 'The Last Starfighter' would be pretty sweet considering the way video games are such a major media nowadays. I do think a remake of 'Navigator' would be pretty cool. Only thing I would suggest is less of the family chessy-ness and add in some sci-fi mystery like 'Fringe' or 'Lost'.
