Ryan Reynolds Gives a DEADPOOL Movie Update

As you know FOX is moving forward with a Deadpool spin-off film. I wish I could be crazy excited for it but the way FOX treats these Marvel characters is ridiculous. I would be nice if it turns out great, but I’m not getting my hopes up. We know that Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the merk with a mouth and as it turns out he is currently in the process of developing the story for the film. He recently did an interview in which he tells us what is currently going on with the project.

“Well, I’m intimately involved with it. We’re just trying to break a story right now and figure out who the villain is going to be and all that stuff. But, it’s going to be just like the comic books. I’m gonna have a messed up face and you may see some flashbacks of Wade earlier in his life, but primarily what you see is what you get in the comics and that’s the goal. And there is no better place to draw material from then the comics which are incredible.”

I really hope he gets what he is working toward. If they stick with the comic books like he say’s they want to do, then this movie will be rated ‘R’, and I will be absolutely shocked if FOX allows this this film to be ‘R’. I imagine it being something along the same lines as Wolverine which would be just awful. I hope it doesn’t end up like that though.

Who would you like to see as the villain in the Deadpool movie?

    First

Too bad the older Stryker was (apparently) killed in X2; a face-off between Reynolds and Brian Cox might've been fun to watch.

I don't think a rated-R comic book movie is going to happen anymore. DC has stated that they're no longer going to allow or really do R-ratings, especially since Watchmen didn't do as amazingly awesome as it hopes — I thought it did quite well. Marvel might follow suit, but we'll see when time comes.

as long as he doesnt have blades or laser beams i will give this movie a chance

I reckon they might have the balls to give this an R rating, considering the massive fan backlash about the way Deadpool was treated in the Wolverine movie. They should know that Deadpool is a character for the older fans and give us a chance to see the movie that we want, rather than the movie the kids want. It's not as if there aren't stupid parents who won't take thier kids to it regardless.

Besides if it is a PG-13, it looks like we can expect a more Dark Knight style film considering the way Ryan's talking about it.

    T-Ray!!

I have hope but that usually gets me a big broken heart when it comes to Fox movies… But Ryan adores Deadpool so hopefully he will be made producer and he gets editing votes once the film is in the can….

Seriously. Stick with the comics and you can't go wrong. And I vote yes for Typhoid Mary!

At the rate FOX is going they are going to make this into a semi-kid friendly movie. Along the lines of PG-13. Fox has been disappointing of late and they have to recoup money somewhere. Which is disappointing to say the least. Been a fan of Deadpool since his inception in comics and there is no way they can make this a success as a movie if they make it PG-13 given the subject matter. Deadpool is not Deadpool if he says frick or frack. He has to be as obnoxious and really vile and quick witted with his thoughts and actions. I would love to see this succeed because the other movies i.e. X-Men series and Wolverine were such bad comedies. I wan't a turnaround starting with Deadpool, honestly. I hope they prove me wrong and really write and convert to big screen a wonderful script with panache. I'll just have to wait…

It's FOX, they don't listen to fan's complaints. Like EVER.

Typhoid Mary is my vote ^_^

MAY THE FOX NOT BE WITH YOU, reynolds! so yea . . SERIOUSLY STAY WITH THE SOURCE MATERIAL!

  14. desdemona on June 1st, 09

Typhoid Mary! …or possibly T-Ray…ooh or black tom and juggernaut, maybe add in siryn for some romance, although I would like to see vanessa carlysle. maybe that would make more sense. so many choices! Too bad they couldn't put the narrative boxes onscreen–that would be perfect

What's the rating have to do with anything? Blood and gore are the least of my concerns with this film. I just hope they're faithful to the character and produce an entertaining film, I don't care about seeing gallons of blood.

Coming from a massive Deadpool comic book fan, with all the old mini-series safely tucked away, let's just hope Reynolds has the pull to make him the smart-mouth merc with lethal skills that everyone loves. Even throw Weasel in, since it shows a good contrast. Let's just pray that don't bring back that, absolute butchered (no pun intended) character from Wolverine: Origins. That was honestly disgraceful.

    T-RAY it has to be

  18. Joe on July 7th, 09

They need to start off with one villain such as T-Ray would be the best one or two such as T-Ray and Ajax!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Crash on July 14th, 09

I'd like to see the T-Ray/Typhoid Mary arc done, and lots of onseen work at Hellhouse. It's some of the best in Deadpool's history, IMO.

"MERK" is spelled "MERC" genius. As to the movies they only have 2 to 3 hours to give you the story…if you wanna sit and watch a 5 or 6 hour movie then get rich and make your own company…until then zip the lip cuz you know what, for what they have to work with its not too bad. Granted the whole optic blasts and blades in the arms was a bit much, but all in all it was a good movie.

  21. marvelman on September 9th, 09

Dude, all I know is that the deadpool movie is gonna be HOT!

  22. Astaros on September 13th, 09

do his origin story first, although i can see if they just pick up at Hell House how that would be pretty cool. But bring in Death and everything

  23. Casey on October 18th, 09

I'd like to see the main story be a fully developed Deadpool vs. Ajax, and in flashbacks, it can show Dr. Killbrew and Ajax's history with Wade. So you sort of get an origin story and a main character introduction.
