‘Last Voyage of The Demeter’ gets a Director

As many of you know, I am an avid fan of vampires. And no more famous a story has been written, about the undead, than Bram Stoker’s classic ‘Dracula’. In the epic novel, the old Count himself sets sail from his native Transylvania to the New World. He embarks on the trip on a vessel named the Demeter. The film is set to follow the events on that fateful voyage of a crashed ship without a sign of life on board.
Marcus Nispel is said to be directing this little horror film. The man is definitely no stranger to the genre either, having directed the remakes to ‘Friday The 13th’ and ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’. I honestly didn’t see either of those films. They looked like crappy remakes, but ‘Last Voyage of The Demeter’, sounds like a great film.
I am very interested to see how they turn a chapter from a classic novel into a full blown feature film. There is great potential for this story. We will just have to see if Nispel pulls it off. Producing the film is Chris Bender who also produced ‘The Ring 2′ and ‘The Ruins’. Obviously these guys have done some horror before so my optimism is high.
No word yet on a cast or release date for the flick but we will keep you posted when we hear more.
