I loved the first two films and despised the third, so yeah, I'd love to have him back. Especially since there won't be any more trilogies for him to leave in the lurch. ;P

It sucks but when writing a successful narrative script you need to follow a strong character or idea as a through line. In the movies case it happened to be Wolverine and general plot points that he happened to be involved in. I think this was a strong choice commercially since he was and always will be one of the most popular X-Men. As for the change in characters from page to screen, speaking from experience, adapting characters that are on the surface one dimensional (but are actually much more developed if you take into account their dozens of years of history and adventures in the comic world) to the screen is difficult. You need to give them substance and stakes that will make the audience care for them in the first 30 minutes. The film makers tried to give the X-Men a realistic feel and make these characters believable and human. I thought they did pretty well all things considered

The X-Men is dead, thanks to a Bryan Singer. Lets not even mention the other one's who was directed by another naif who thought he knew what he was doing. @desdemona - I second what you said. Bloody hell with focusing on one character and its called The X-MEN. LOL I will just stick to the comics. The movies were disappointing to say the least. Getting back to the subject matter; I for one would rather not see Singer back at the helm. They need to rewrite the script and not make the characters that were always strong in the comics seem so bloody weak and confused like a concussed cow wallowing in a love hate relationship. That approach most especially of Rogue was awful. In the comics the X-Men could seriously put a beating on the movie characters. LOL! Get Singer out of there and give someone else a crack at it. Or did they learn from his Superman stint. Superman by Singer: Bloody hell was that a love letter?! Well the box office took noticed...

true....the x-men movies always seemed to focus too much on wolverine. I would defintiely have loved to see nightcrawler again in the third movie (although I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with directing), and I feel like a lot of characters were shafted when he was directing. at least with ratner we saw more of kitty, iceman, colossus, and storm (again though, storm was more to do with the actor). In the comics there always seemed to be an even mix, even when there was a focus on one of the characters, and I think that should have translated onto the screen.

yes and no. yes because i want more xmen movies nonetheless. but NO because he didnt do THAT great of a job. too convoluted how he presented it all. i love seeing wolverine just as much as the next guy but it'd be nice to get an even mix of great xmen characters.
