The last I heard, we were most likely going to see a fourth installment of the ‘Scream’ horror movie franchise, which I would have been OK with. But today we got word, that the original Scream movie is actually going to get remade? Are you kidding me? The movie debuted in the mid 90’s! It’s not even that old! They plan on rebooting the franchise and making a whole new set of films which will start production this fall. I don’t understand the point of all this. Original ‘Scream’ Writer/director Kevin Williamson has been developing the trilogy and apparently it will bring back many of the characters from the original movies.

We actually reported on this back in January but now EW is confirming, Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette have both been approached to return to the film. Nothing is official though on if they will come on board. If Williamson plans on bringing back some of the original characters, I am pretty sure this reboot will still be a continuation of the story. Everything that happened in the original movies really happened in this new set of movies, but those original characters will not be the main focus. The main focus will be on a new set of younger high school kids.

You know what would be awesome? If they brought in the whole cast of High School Musical, just so we can watch them get picked off one by one from a Scream masked killer. Now THAT’S  a movie I would want to watch.
