2 New SHERLOCK HOLMES Character Posters

I was pleasantly surprised with the trailer for Guy Ritchie’s next film ‘Sherlock Holmes’. It looked like it would be a fun film to watch, Ritchie took the story to the action packed level of Holmesness. We have never seen a Sherlock Holmes like this before, he is going to be kicking some ass in the streets of London. Now we have the first two official character posters for the movie. I am sure that these will be the first of many. The posters show off the two main characters of the film set in front of a fog filled London backdrop. The movie will come out this December, and it stars robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong.

These posters look pretty cool. Check em’ out below and let us know what you think!

I'm sorry, I love both RDJ and Jude Law as actors, but this movie is going to bomb big time! If not production wise it's going to bomb as a legitimate story. I'm a big fan of Sherlock Holme's stories and I loved the Jeremy Brett TV series which in my opinion was the closest you could get to the Holmes series via film. This movie looks like it was meant only to appease the action-movie masses and as far as I can tell from the trailer RDJ plays Holmes like Depp plays Jack Sparrow…and I've had enough of pirates. The trailer also leaves you wondering the most pivotal thing…what's the mystery? If there is an answer to that, it's disguised behind senseless explosions and over-the-top violence which Sherlock Holmes was never about. This is just going to be a bad SPOOF, nothing more.

i think it will do good in the theatres because I dont feel like many people really know the stories, they just know he was a detective, so even if they dont stay true to the stories, its not that hard to do a detective flick with a good story

It's true that the classic stories aren't as well-known as they might have been a while ago, but I think that even if they fail to come up to Sir Arthur's standards, it might spur some young people into investigating the famous detective. If the movie fails to deliver it might still be a success in that regard.

I've been a fan of sherlock since I was 6 years old…I know the stories, and I know that RDJ's preformance is nothing like the books. But actually, this is one instance where i don't mind. It looks like fun, Robert Downy Jr is awesome (and so is jude law) and I will definitely be going to see this. The trailer is amazing by the way.

"Nothing like the books"–? See, I've been reading the stories (I've got a big two-volume annotated paperback set that came out two years ago or so), and what I'm seeing is that Conan Doyle was, in the final analysis, just a guy– albeit a very talented guy– working to a deadline (he made plenty of continuity mistakes!) and that Holmes was an energetic, intense, intelligent fellow who didn't suffer fools gladly, and who was in his fair share of potentially violent situations. Which seems not only to allow for action as well as nitpicky detection, but seems to fit Robert Downey, Jr., to a tee. That said, I want character posters for Rachel McAdams and the very, VERY intense Mark Strong. Oh, yeah….

I think the question we should all be asking is about Downey Jr.'s hair. What's up with that!?
