Ryan Reynolds Gets Buried Alive in his Next Movie Role

Actor Ryan Reynolds who we all know as Deadpool from the film ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ has signed up for his next project since ‘The Proposal’ which I have yet to see. His next film is a gritty indie film called ‘Buried’. Reynolds plays a civilian contractor in Iraq who is kidnapped. He wakes up to finds himself in the worst possible situation… buried in a coffin in the dessert. What a freakin nightmare that would be! Of course he is left with a cell phone, a candle and a knife. I will be interesting to see how he gets out of this situation.

The concept is so simple yet is an incredible intense situation. Variety reports:

He decided to go the indie route as a way to stretch his acting chops in a movie with a claustrophobic premise, and one in which he holds the screen through most of the picture.

Rodrigo Cortes will direct a script by Chris Sparling and production will begin this month in Barcelona.

What do you think about the premise of this film? Have you ever seen ‘The Vanishing’? it’s a great little buried alive movie. I would hate to be buried alive, the thought of it just gives me the creeps.

Well, he already has worked in Indies before; he was in John August's The Nines, and was wonderful in it as he always is. He's a great actor/comedic actor who earns his keep.

I always see people buried alive in movies or comics and they always seem to get out. To me it seems that it will result in a 99% chance of death :( I don't hate Ryan Renolds or anything, but I think seeing someone die in that situation would actually be a refreshing sight on the big screen, as horrible as it sounds…

Was just going to say this myself. Infact I think he was great in The Nines much better than his big budget stuff, although his character in Blade III was about the only enjoyable part.

The Dutch/Belgian of the Vanishing of course didn't have a happy ending, unlike the American/Kiefer Sutherland version. BTW visit wereviking.wordpress.com for all your indie superhero goodness.

I think this could be a good film. Reynolds is a great serious actor and also priceless in comedies. I agree The Nines was a surprisingly good film as well so id definately go out to see this.
