If if weren't for Ron Moore no one would even be talking about a Battlestar movie. I loved what they did with the TV show and i watched all the seasons in like a 2 month span up to the seasons end, the whole series was just amazing. If Ron Moore is not involved im sure everyone who enjoyed his "reboot" wont pony up $9 at the box office. If Battlestar is not based off the TV show why bother? It feels a bit to soon to make a BSG movie that isn't based on the new Ron Moore series. And they definitely need good people behind it.
