As you might know Gullermo del Toro is producing a new horror film based on a 1973 TV movie called ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’. Katie Holmes was surprisingly attached to the project not to long ago, and now the film has cast it’s male lead… Guy Pearce. I think Pearce is a great casting decision! This guy is a fantastic actor that isn’t used enough in this film industry.

‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ is a supernatural thriller about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend who discovers they are sharing the house with demonic creatures. The young girl will be played by Bailee Madison, who discovers the monsters that eventually proves to be dangerous. Guy Pearce will play the girls father. He is an author that’s frustrated by his daughter’s tales of monsters, not believing her, even when his girlfriend played by Katie Holmes backs the young girl.

The script for the movie was written by Del Toro and Matthew Robbins and it is being directed by Troy Nixey. Production for the film will begin next month in Melbourne, Australia.

I’m interested to see how this film turns out. I love any film that involves kids and monsters. What do you think about Guy Pearce being cast in this Del Toro produced movie?

Basically anything that Del Toro does and will do since Pan's Labyrinth I wil get my teeth into, even if based on a 40 years-old script remake. Monsters Inc. was indeed great with the monster/children combo, and now a Del-Toro-monster/child combinaison? Ho yeah.
