Joseph Gordon Levitt talks about G.I. JOE Movie and Stephen Sommers

gi-joe-22

As you know some rumor news broke onto the internet regarding Stephen Sommers being fired from the G.I. Joe movie. This is a rumor that I believe there is some truth to, even though everyone is denying it. I know the test screenings have not gone as well as Paramount says they are.

That being said, Joseph Gordon-Levitt who plays Cobra Commander in the movie was recently asked about the director and what he thought of the whole thing. What he said about Sommers makes a whole lot of sense, but it doesn’t help the fact that the movie isn’t what the G.I. Joe fans want to see.

‘G.I. Joe’ is like playing with toys. It’s very simple and its really fun and that’s all. Stephen Sommers is like a big kid. We’d get to set every day and it was like playing with toys except the toys are bigger. No one was more excited about the big toys than he was. He talks real fast and real loud and gets really excited. Who else should direct ‘G.I. Joe’ but a big kid who loves big toys?

He makes a great point doesn’t he! But at the same time there are a lot of directors out there that are big kids, and most of them are better directors than Sommers. Had he stuck with the original Real American Hero brand that we all grew up with and are fans of, I am sure we would all be more excited about this movie.

Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Baroness are going to be the best part of this movie and the main reason I am going to see it.

I dunno, Baroness with no accent is bad, Snake Eyes with lips is bad, "acceleration suits" is bad. I hate that I can't stop myself from crawling to a midnight opening show of this. Mark my words, this will be on T3 and House of the Dead levels and that ain't good!

Your right about those Lips on Snake eyes. They have bugged me from the very beginning. I just am hoping for a great showdown between him and Storm shadow. Baroness is only for the hotness factor.

I do not think it is fair to have T3 and House of the Dead on the same level. Sure, T3 was not as good as T2, but we all knew it wasn't going to be. HotD was a product of Uwe Boll which is in a league of its own (that being a horrible league of course).

This is a load of Bullocks! We all know this is going to fail. Why did they have to stray so far from the source is beyond me. I second everything you guys above me said. Snake Eyes with what?…The Baroness without what?…Meh, just a load of bullocks.! G I JOE: Resolute anyone?!

considering the global poltical climate when this film began production, i think they thought it would be a good move for global sales if the characters weren't so associated with america, as to isolate the heroes to a country who was not viewed favorably by many.

First of all the lips thing is more practilcal, it alowws more breathing room. remember he is a commando ninja but he still needs to breath.

We will be seeing an internet post from Uwe Boll within a week of the release of GI Joe, and he will be gloating. Honestly, at least Boll's movies stick close to the source material (mostly to their detriment).

I'd be seeing this for Baroness, Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes and Destro. I'm a big fan of Christopher Eccleston. In any event, this will probably be a "wait for DVD" in my case.

Practical? Who wants practical? Snake Eyes is a ninja on a covert ops team.

Snake Eyes never needed help breathing when he was face-down in sand on the playground and he damn sure shouldn't need it now!
