Ronald D. Moore’s ‘VIRTUALITY’ – 12 min Preview

Been wondering what Ronald D. Moore has been up to since ‘BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’ ended? He has gone on to create a  project for T.V. called ‘VIRTUALITY’. And yes in case you are wondering…it does take place in space. ‘VIRTUALITY’ is about the crew of Earth’s first starship, The Phaeton, and its 10 year voyage to explore the Epsilon Eridani star system. The mission was originally intended to be a simple exploration mission but 6 months in, scientists discover that Earth will be uninhabitable in a hundred years and the mission is now the last hope for the human race. But, in order to help the crew through this ten year trip, virtual reality modules are put in place and used for entertainment, training, and some other surprises. The show seems to be told in a ‘Documentary/Reality Show’ style. I for one think this will be a great show. Check out the clip below and let us know what you think.

this is going to be sweet. another show from Mr. Moore that asks serious questions, and compared to BSG, this one seems to asks even more. the nature of reality, consciousness, life other than ourselves….another show that actually makes you think.

i feel like this would make a great movie or a great miniseries, but I think it will feel tired if it were to go more than a season, even a full 20 something episode season would be pushing it. I hope Im wrong, but there is only so much you can do with such a small cast on one ship

Ronald Moore helped bring us Star Trek's holodeck. Episodes featuring the holodeck are, with a few exceptions, some of the worst. Now he has a whole show dedicated to people utilizing 'virtuality' to escape the confines and pressures of space travel. Somewhere the line between the virtual and real worlds gets blurred. Great! Maybe there will be "angels among us" and they will save us all like in BSG. Pointless….
