BLACK PANTHER to be played by Lost’s “Mr Eko” Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje?

I’m glad I live in a day and age where I can copy and paste someone’s name. If not, I would have definitely misspelled “Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.” Or it would have taken me quite a bit longer. Though I guess me explaining this, has taken significantly longer than it would have to just spell his name… hmm.
In an interview with MTV, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who starred in Lost, as the stick wielding fan favorite Mr Eko, and can be seen in the upcoming G.I Joe, said that he’s been in talks with Marvel for the lead role in a big-screen adaptation of Black Panther. What?! Awesome! Good thing it’s in the hands of Marvel! And not… ya know? I think Adewale would be absolutely perfect for the role.
But don’t take my word for it, watch the interview below, or read the main points underneath!
We’re talking to Marvel about Black Panther. This is the first round, so you know, hopefully they’ll look at G.I. Joe and see the potential. But it’s about time we have a black superhero, isn’t it?
He’s from a fictional village in Africa and the timing is so right for that kind of character to come through. And while I’m in my prime, this is the time. We’ve got Obama, now we need something on screen to represent, so… ‘Panther,’ man.
So what do you think of Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Black Panther?

i can see that, hed probably be pretty good. "about time we had a black superhero"? what about blade? but he's right. and we need more women characters too. and not just supporting characters either. we need more headlining characters.
"we've got obama"? this statement is the type that increases racial divides rather than equality, and makes me dislike him for this role if he has that kind of attitude.
Yeah, the whole Obama comment was a bit much, but I do agree that we could use some more diversity with superheroes. Again, another great casting choice. The Black Panther is a really good storyline and the origin movie (it's about how he pretty much becomes the "Tony Stark" of Africa) would be really good. Maybe even if the Avengers movie does good, they can incorporate him into a sequel.
I think they could make the Black Panther the Christopher Nolan Batman of Africa. That would be really interesting considering Africa is real where Gotham isn't. They could pull it off as long as they don't get too political with it and they don't delve too deeply into Obama territory. This film could be a real world wide inspiration that something like the new Captain America or Iron Man movies wouldn't be able to achieve.
I think he'd be a great choice, I think he's a great actor. I'm just disappointed that his comments would make people not like him for the role. And the fact that THIS is the comment that's increasing racial division, I suggest you watch 2 hours of Fox News and tell me that African Americans aren't STILL fighting an uphill battle when it comes to race.
And you can't compare Iron Man, Batman, Wolverine, Super Man, and Spider-Man with a man who hunts and kills vampires.
Im saying its the type of comment and type of attitude that wont get anyone anywhere.
It wasn't a divisive comment by any stretch. You just aren't comprehending the sentiment.
I don't know what "type" of comment and attitude you think it is. I'm really quite confused by your condemnation. Perhaps you could enlighten me, because I didn't get it and I certainly don't want to be out of the loop. Gotta keep up with the Jones, ya know….
The sentiment that the president belongs to one group or another, when it should be viewed as great for everyone
Yeah, see, I didn't get that vibe off of him. But you might have more sensitive meters than me. :::shrug::: We all live in our own little slice of reality and somehow I doubt that he meant it to be taken in any divisive manner. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage either, btw. Just. sayin'.
He's from Africa, has the physique, and the talent….but he'll ALWAYS be Simon Adebisi from OZ in my mind!!!
And why is it that "we got Obama.." can be interpreted so easily into a divisive racial issue? Because a person the same color as him says it doesn't have to mean that everyone else must be excluded. I took it as "We (The United States of America. and historically an institution built on race) are finally representing our diversity with Obama and therefore should also reflect in our movies etc.
how's that?
Perfect! You said it perfect! Thank you!
Djimon Honsou would be my first choice but Eko could work to. It's just that Djimon is prettier.
Lighten the hell up. You and your buddies sound like a bunch of whiny-biotch Glen Becks. My God, you people just won't stop whining about Obama. If you didn't vote for him, dont' like him, too damn bad. Those of us who do support him had to deal with stupid-azz G.W. Bush for 8 years, Bush Sr. for 4 years and Retard Reagan for 8 years, so get over it. You're the one's being divisive…a black man taking pride in having a black president is just that…taking pride. Nothing else.
