DOCTOR WHO Comic-Con Panel

I was fortunate enough to make it in to the Doctor Who panel. I have been a huge fan of the show since Russell T. Davies revived the series back in 2005. The hall was packed.  People lined up for hours to see the panel for one of the world’s longest running Sci-Fi television shows.

Director Euros Lyn and Executive Producer Julie Gardner were met with a very warm and loud welcome from the crowd but it wasn’t until show runner Russell T. Davies came out that the crowd went from loud to deafening and even more so as the tenth Doctor himself came out to an immense rock star welcome and a standing ovation.

I started watching the show when Christopher Ecclesten played The Doctor and as he left I was very skeptical at the performance of the new Doctor. But after only 5 minutes of watching David Tennant’s performance I felt that HE was The Doctor.

We were treated to the trailer for David’s last appearance on the show. The Trailer was for the upcoming Christmas special while short revealed quite a bit of information. For starters, There seems to be an appearance from The Ood that I am sure fans will recognize. The big surprises are that Wilifred Mott, and Sylvia Noble both return, as well as Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. But the biggest surprise of all is that the villain in this special is The Doctors oldest and most worthy adversary….. The Master played once again by John Simm.

As an added surprise to our guests, The Guinness Book Of World Records came to present an award for not only the longest running show in science fiction but also, based on worldwide viewership, references, downloads and airtime, Guinness also awarded Doctor Who as the greatest Science Fiction Show in television history. Russell accepted the award while mentioning ” there is going to be a Comic-Con riot over this. Take that Star Trek”.

All in all The panel was fun and hilarious. David Tennant is a true showman and ate up his rock star reception. Typical questions were asked from the audience about who they thought was the best doctor, episode, villain, etc. And of course they all gave very political answers but it was all very fun.

David also quelled rumors about being cast in The Hobbit and has said that he has not received any calls or notifications about it and it is in fact just a rumor. He also goes on to say that he respects greatly the work of matt Smith and it sounds like he feels that matt will be a worthy Time Lord.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the rumored movie of Doctor Who with Tennant

Actually they did. I guess I forgot to put it in the post. They said that there is no plan for a feature film. It is just a rumor at this point but they are not against it if the opportunity arises
